Learn against the best, to eventually beat the best..
I am hoping for a little more than that from him.Not sure if "very good" is how I see James, especially not the first year. I would settle for decent starter by year 2. I expect his rookie year to look much like Clabo did last year, without the very good finish.
I realize you weren't addressing this to me. But, i gotta chime in and warn you ... there is a very good chance you are disappointed.Wow... bad analysis. He can't be as bad as Clabo... I mean can't like not possible. Clabo was horrific, he threw a few "oh-shoot" blocks a game. I doubt James will be that bad, think he'll be much better than that.
I used to believe this, but look at the right tackles we've had repping against Wake in practice the last 5 years: Tyson Clabo, Jonathan Martin, Marc Colombo, Vernon Carey. Have any of them gotten better practicing against Wake?Going against can wake will definitely speed up the procress for getting James ready for the season, no better way to get a guy prepared for what he's gonna see than having him go up against one of the best def ends in the league every snap in practice.
3 of the guys you listed in clabo, colombo, and carey were all on their last leg and carey always looked like he was a biscuit away from 400 pounds. Martin was just a rare breed of chicken snake that evolved to resemble a human being, James on the other hand is ready for the task and he's not on the sunset of his career. Maybe that will make the difference.I used to believe this, but look at the right tackles we've had repping against Wake in practice the last 5 years: Tyson Clabo, Jonathan Martin, Marc Colombo, Vernon Carey.
