Jeff Darlington quote often misquoted

I am tired of seeing people say oh many people what this job. Jeff Darlington said so. They are taking his comment out of context. He neither says many want it nor does he say many will turn it down.

Here is his exact quote and a link to the video where it is quoted from.

"...When you consider that fact that three members of the organization, could likely stay put. That does make for an interesting search. I don't know if your necessarily going to be able to go out... And ugh ... and find anybody that you want. Because they might want to bring their own people in."

" That being said I have already had numerous people around the league, contact me about what the Dolphins are doing. Because this is a coveted job. People see a young Quarterback, they see a nucleus in place. They see a solid Defensive Front. Uh so I think they are going to have a lot of options. If there is on obstacle though its going to be your... your handing the keys to someone but saying hey you got a couple of people riding in your back seat when you drive into the facility."

@ 2:15 mark on video is the exact quote taken from.

he plainly states it is a coveted job in both the tweet and the interview

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
#Dolphins already have a strong in-house candidate for this coveted GM role — Brian Gaine. Should get a hard look

Can we get a grammatical breakdown of this tweet, please?

Jeff Darlington is not going to say it's a coveted position, if the nfl exec's he's been talking to, were saying bad things...common sense needs to be used here.

Yes he does but he never quotes them as saying that, your reading into it what you want to see. I want to see it too. But sorry he is not quoting them no matter how you want to look at it it is not a direct quote.

Bingo I agree with you. But you can't say he said it. In a court of law you would lose.

I am done LOL

Lol lock the thread!! Trolls, trolls everywhere.

An insider saying it is a coveted job means nothing anymore, not until every GM comes out and expresses their interest individually to each member if this board!

I don't understand what is the issue or why you are making a big deal out of it. No matter whether it's the actual quote or not, 3 separate people have said that there will be interest in the position

A lot to do about nothing in this thread.

People are being fed a load of drama and people are eating it up like the little drama queens they are.

Is it a coveted role? There's only 32 teams. So yea, no guff Sherlock.

I have no doubt, as Ross sits up in New York, when he hangs up the phone with Aponte and Philbin, he turns his attention to this Higgins guy and Peterson and anyone he's surrounding himself with, he's listening to all scenarios.

Aponte is going to be just fine. I'll go on record with a wild guess and say Aponte ends up at the NFL offices as reported.

I fully expect Ross to hand the keys of the mansion over to the GM. If this guys says get rid of Philbin, you can be sure Ross will do it.

It only nothing if you want to believe fictional quotes.

I see a lot of crazy psychotic posters out there. :chuckle:

He was on camera on the NFL show yesterday saying EXACTLY this.

Now someone will probably say he had his fingers crossed behind his back... :err: :ponder: :rolleyes2:
