Jeff Ireland is smarter than 98% of you

It must be "partly sunny" in your world pretty much every day. I can't give you a hard time about that.
When you get dragged through years of average to below average football it's important to keep a rosey outlook. It's the only way to NOT become bitter.
 
Another way to look at it is...Ireland is 98% smarter that all of us but 98% of all NFL general managers are smarter than Ireland!!

I agree with this - when it comes to football anyway. And I openly support him and his decision making. At the end of the day his success/failure will be judged by wins vs. losses.

One comment I would like to make about him is if he truly knows how to court a player in free agency. You have toknow how to play the game, make a guy feel wanted, you have to make an impression (a positive one!). Can he play and win that game?

so how many of his picks and decisions so far have gotten us to the playoffs?
 
yea thats why his team has gotten significantly worse since going 11-5 in 08, yea he is a genius for taking misi right before gronk
 
I'm assuming you're talking about when it comes to football and that's like me claiming I'm smarter than 98% of 3 year olds! Player
Acquisition is his JOB so I would hope that he's smarter than 100% of us when it comes to that. The question is, is he smarter than
98% of his peers? Hell is even smarter than 2% of his peers? What teams are we better than right now? IMO he has a C- in the class and that's borderline, If we go into the year with Matt Moore as our starter that grades gonna drop to a D.

When back up qb's come in for a visit, then tell you to get bent, what makes you believe he will land a qb, other than taking a chance in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Jacksonville two number one draft picks to get Henne back.
 
I have to say: He probably knows more about players, football&salry cap (I hope), but I seriously doubt he is smarter than me.... and it is not an indictment on Ireland :chuckle:

The players that Ireland passed on..

Did they pan out? Play up to the level of their contract? I'm mixed on Ireland..

Reggie Bush

Cameron Wake

Moore at QB

Who brought those guys in?

Just the fact that he managed to keep his job and is still working here shows how sharp he is. Who knows better than Ireland about how difficult dealing with Ross must be?
