Jeff Ireland is smarter than 98% of you

Listen it is the coach that makes the GM look good or bad. Ireland did not pick Tonny Sporanno Parcells did. Ireland influenced Parcells in some of those early drafts but since Parcells has bowed out our picks and FA signing have gotten much better both in what we paid for them and how they produced on the field. That first year of grabbing a Patrick Turners, Pat Whites along with some FA signings all smelled of Parcell. THe offensive line pickup I blame on Sporano more than Irelance in terms of Tony telling Ireland this is the guy I want go get him. If Tony S was still here I would bet that we would still have the right side of the offensive line resigned. I liked Tony S hard worker but he got in over his head at times. Ireland has done a solid job. IMO he is going to have to hit it right with this QB thing to keep his job and get the phins turned around. I believe Ireland belives that the long term solution will be to draft one. That been his pattern in the past so look for his next hit to be in that direction.

Yep, real smart guy. Can anyone name a big name that he has signed either as a coach or player beside Dansby? No Harborough, no Fisher, no Manning, no Flynn, hell even no Ryan freaking Clark. We get turned down on every front because of this goon.

In this economy, there are tons of very smart people collecting unemployment checks..... I just wish Jeff Ireland was one of them.

P.S....... I AM STILL DRIVING THE "FIRE JEFF IRELAND BUS"!!! Plenty of room on board guys....Hop on!!!

Just accept it. He may rub players and agents the wrong way but he is no dummy. He knows his job and he is not going to overpay for garbage just to make alot of arm chair dolphin gm's happy. I trust in his ability to deliver the RIGHT QB at the RIGHT price. The season doesn't start for another 6 months.
Count me in,as part of the 2%, who is smarter than Ireland. I know Im smarter than that fool. I know I can put a better team together, than that fool. The guy is clearly, killing the franchise. That is one reason we will be 2-14, next year.

yes you are sio rigth, he is smarter than 98% of us... but theres amiilon of us...so this mean there are hundreds smater than him for the job!!!

we're not lucky or smart enough to be 2-14...we'll start 0 and september and october and then pull out some 5 out of the last 8 win streak to screw our draft position royally all over again...

Just look at 3 players -

Reggie Bush

Cameron Wake

Moore at QB

Who brought those guys in?

Just the fact that he managed to keep his job and is still working here shows how sharp he is. Who knows better than Ireland about how difficult dealing with Ross must be?

Jeff stole Bush

Jeff won't get any credit for Wake - beacuse everyone wanted to sign him - ya right

Moore is more than serviceable

Recent Drafts

Pouncey was the obvious choice in our position

DT - unknown missin the OTA and much of the sesaon hard to gauge this pick

J Odrick was a good pick - Misi not so much - so we wasted our "real" draft position

Jeff and others got taosted by Denver on BM - (It was ugly)

I can't honestly say I want Jeff gone - just because we don't have a top 5 QB so he can't land PM - a few GMs can't - the building blocks are coming along - you can't give up 2 seconds for "crap" and expect great results and then trade the "crap" for 2 thirds and expect a lot - so patience is wearing

I guess you put yourself in Jeffs smart GM decision-making. The last QB he drafted was Pat White. Case closed.

Wait until SMith does not sign with Miami and Moore holds out for a FLynn like contract. Wow he has about 3M cap devoted to QB and may or may not be able to sign a good rookie QB with a first or second round pick.

He so SMART.

You're right. Jeff is a smart guy, a clone of Sheldon Cooper of TBBT.

But his manners and his actions are questionable (just saying the less) and I think Matt Flynn deserved a better offer of what Miami placed on the table.

I'm not talking about throwing millions to serve as backup but a flexible contract based on his starting role and his stats. Flynn was a commodity and we let him go.

Mr. Ireland can over pay for bulky D-linemen and mammoth O-linemen but can't offer decent money on talented passers. This is a passing league and QB plays on every offensive play, so they deserve best money. You can find over 200 O-linemen of quality but less than 20 quality passers, so you must try to add a quality QB every time you can.

His football knowledge has been pathetic. Ireland & Co. missed on Henne & White as both proved insufficient. Also now with a new offensive approach, Pat Devlin is likely another wasted talent.
He has passed on great opportunities to add potential stars: Jake Long is great but Matt Ryan was a stronger fit. I can't believe he allowed Mallet to join the Pats like that.
And now he's blowing any chance to upgrade.

No Peyton Manning, no Andrew Luck, no RG3, no Matt Flynn, and surely no Alex Smith. David Garrard or another current free agent is just another body, not a solution.

Of course that we will draft a QB in April, but discount one in first round, so wait for another "brilliant" second rounder, luckily Brandon Weeden.

I love new posters that are die hard FO apologists,......doesn't seem strange at all. lol

I don't see how anyone can say he's done a good job when the product on the field is what it is.
