Jeff Ireland speaks to the media

Just as I suspected, smart flexible GM, with a plan, dumb ****ing fans will still hate

Translation: Philbin doesn't think he's very good.

I have nothing to prove this... but I believe Philbin may have argued strongly in favor of signing Flynn... but Ireland was too egotistical to listen and forced the low ball offer because Philbin can not override Ireland

It is if they didn't think he was much better than Moore. If Philbin thought Flynn was the next coming of Aaron Rodgers, I think they would have shelled out the money for him. He obviously didn't.
not even the team that signed him think he is that...guess holmgren thought he was no better than mccoy!! Reality is...only two teams even considered flynn..that's the reality.I think it becomes easier to accept when you think about it.

Why don't you people just lay off and let things play out for gods sake. It's absolutely ridiculous around here with all the negativity and whining going on.

Really?

Ireland sounds more of an idiot with this statement.

Obviously when comparing him to Manning Garrard comes off a little unexciting, but it is a solid pick up.

This guy is a vet, he is two years removed from the Pro Bowl. Spent all last year getting healthy.
Pan the pick if you want, but that only shows your stupidity. Getting Garrard for a risk free one year contract is a great move IMO.

What if.... Philbin did think Flynn was the next coming of Rodgers and told Ireland that... but Ireland was too stoopid and too egotistical to hear it?

I'm guessing Jeff Ireland wants to keep his job and have his team be successful.

Now you are reaching with the hate.

Seriously?
I hope no one is paying you for these theories.

were you there? Are you joes brain? How many other teams brought him in for a visit? I'll wait...we aren't the only team that needs a qb...get real.

That would not make any sense at all because Philbin is Ross' guy.

If that were the case, Ross would have stepped in.

No way the Dolphins let Matt Flynn go if they think he is a Franchise QB.

If Flynn is so great, why wasn't he announced as the starter in Seattle?

The first one.
Irelands job is to get Philbin players.
If Philbin would have stuck his neck out on Flynn then Ireland would have gotten him, but Philbin didn't... that is all we need to know.

It is never all one thing or another.
Miami probably low-balled him, Flynn may have gotten a better vibe from the Rah Rah world of Carroll.
Say what you will but the tandem of Philbin/Ireland are far from Rah Rah.

This ^^ I agree with about the whole Flynn debacle, if he was that coveted by Philbin he would've been a Dolphin.

What is the plan? All I heard was that it is not over yet and we will draft our problems away and pick up some players that may be cut from other teams. Exactly what we have been doing under Ireland for the past years. 7 wins.

I agree 100%.
Nice to see someone with a positive outlook in the middle of all this negativity. Thank you!!
