damn you yet again lmao. I always make sure to not be taking a sip of water while looking at your posts. This is one of those reasons haha.

Is this setting up yet another signing
Doubt it... we still don't have enough space to list Armstead-- even at a 1M salary. we'll have to do another cut or two (or a restructuring) to get him under this year's cap.

OTC has us at 3.6M in space.

I’m shocked by this news, Jesse Davis was a huge fan favorite from opposing teams for his play. Hurns saw that coming, sitting out 2020 then getting injured might of ruined his career sucks but we are stacked at wideout. Move saves about 6 million. Do Cethan Carter and Fejedelem next Grier

I don't know much about this guy but my sense from following him on Twitter is that he doesn't actually have any sources and sort of just throws sh*t at the wall to see what sticks.
I dont think anything he says bears much weight

Still have Cethan Carter and Fejedelem to cut maybe Shaheen besides the tougher ones like Adam Butler, Eric Rowe and Parker. Throw in Gaskin as well not sure a third string Rb is worth 2.5 million can save that, Ahmed provides similar style at only 800k.

Most of those really don't generate much. Our 52nd player makes 895K, and that adds to the cap as soon as you cut any of those players.

Yes,but... little talent and bad coaching is a BAD combination.....
I think the purging has more to do with just getting rid of old veterans while bringing in new veterans while keeping current draft picks. Noah is still around and that's a roster spot for sure. Not a bad way to go for where we are now.

I mean Carter,Fejedelem and Shaheen generate about 6 million after being replaced by 900k players. Added Gaskin as well who’s 2.5 would be replaced by Ahmed for 1.6 savings. There’s no need for a 4th and 5th tight end and Fejedelem was a special teams ace in which we’ve signed two of them. Gaskin will be 3rd string and doesn’t provide anything the first two don’t have and Ahmed provides similar attributes at a discounted price. Still saving 7+ million for players that won’t play and simply don’t need. The big savers are Butler and Rowe which would save us an additional 9 million however both key roll players especially Rowe. Just comes down to can you make a bigger impact signing like say Tretter by making the move. Can also extend Gesicki, Howard and Jones by moving to signing bonus to other years. Can give Howard the contract he wants setting it up like Hills and paying him actually less then year but extended contract with moved guaranteed money. Cap isn’t really an issue, everything can be moved around.

Let me take a more exact crack at this...

Carter 2.525M - 895K = 1.63
Feje = 1.88
Shaheen = .96, (has a dead cap hit of 333K)

So these three generate about 4.5M. We still need at least this much to even get Armstead in the door. ...and I agree that Shaheen and at least one of these two are dead men walking, so no disagreement thus far.

Gaskin at 2.5 would generate 1.6M, and again, I don't disagree with you about losing him.

Cutting all four would probably pay for Tretter, but would still leave us unable to get Armstead in the building. Rather, I think we have to cut all four to get Armstead in, and we'll have to look further if we want Tretter. Again, then you look to Rowe and Butler (which I believe would be the next two).

Now, you have to ask yourself if a one year lease on Tretter is worth more than our 3rd safety and one of our better backup D-linemen when no help is forthcoming from this year's draft. That's a tough one.

Now, we get to the one area where I vehemently disagree with you. The LAST thing I would do is restructure Howard or Jones. That is extremely bad business to restructure a player who you don't expect to keep for more than another year or two. That causes some major cap pain when they leave. Players this old and close to the end (with our team anyway) require you to pay as you go... otherwise you get a balloon payment in 2024
