Jim Hasslet for Coach of the Year

lovie smith has somehow got a talentless bears team on the brink of the playoffs

Talentless? Please tell me you are joking. Thomas Jones, Mushin Mohammed, pretty much their whole D-line, Brian Urlacher, Mike Brown, Charles Tillman, Nathan Vasher.....not saying Lovie Smith hasn't done a great job, because he has, but the Bears are not talentless.

sad to say...but the saints werent gonna be good regardless...sad to see all those people in lousiana like that...but they have stunked up the joint every year...hastlett has been strong all year..but he's not the coach of the year

I couldn't agree more with that statement. Jim Haslett is hands-down the worst coach in the NFL. I thought that even while Wanny was still with the Dolphins. He has done nothing in New Orleans, save for 2000, when they won a play-off game. I know everyone in the New Orleans organization deserves sympathy for everything that has happened, and the Saints haven't gotten any breaks this year, but Haslett was a terrible coach before the hurricane and he hasn't doesn't anything to change my opinion this year.

No

Dom capers is hands down the worst coach in the NFL

That texans team actually has some talent, no way they should be 1-12

worst coach in the league? Haslett, Capers, Mularkey, norv turner, denny green are all canidates.

I'll be surprised if he is even back as the saints coach next year..

only reason would be because the owner doesnt want to deal with change until he figures out whats going on with the team and moving them.

Oh yeah, good point, I forgot about him. Probably because I forgot that the Texans were actually in the NFL.

I can't say this enough: The only way Tony Dungy wins coach of the year is if the Colts go undefeated. If they go 15-1 he loses all of my consideration for him. Remember the Colts were supposed to be this good. Most people thought that they would be the best team in the leauge this year and they are. If they don't win the Superbowl this year this season will be a dissapointment. However, if you make history, then you gotta get consideration.
I still say it goes to Lovie Smith or Mike Tice. If the Vikings run the table and go 11-5 then Tice definately gets it.

How many other coaches in the NFL had to deal with a hurricane uprooting their whole team to another city?

None.

Hasslett should be Coach of the Year.

It called coach of the year not coach who best dealt with a hurricane. There's a subtle difference in there if you look hard enough

using the hurricane as an excuse is kind of like the people who said it was "only appropriate that the patriots win the superbowl" because of 9/11

man I so pissed when people were saying that.. who the hell nominated the patriots as americas team anyhow?

:\

Let's face it - he's not a great coach but he has done a heck of a job holding the team together under HORRIBLE circumstances this year.

He has maintained focus while having no home stadium, limited practice facilities, an owner talking about moving the team, and a large percentage of his players/coaches working with makeshift lodgings for themselves and their immediate families.

Wow. I know they don't have a great record, but if he doesn't deserve at least a little respect for perservering through all that I don't know who does.

Not to mention he has to deal with having Aaron "Mr. Interception" Brooks as his QB!

Jim Hasslet for COTY!

If Haslett is coach of the year, then Wannstetd should be coach of the century

ok but then we have to give every nearbye college program that was affected's coach the coach of the year award

not only that but what about other things..

weve had earthquakes on the west coast.. bad snow storms up north..

hell.. you have coaches that have had heart attacks

players whos family members pass away

point is... .we all go through adversity in life.. im not saying this to make lite of what happened in N.O. but COTY award should goto a coach who has provided superb coaching skills to his team. if he deserved the award he would have elevated the team to a higher level even through adversity.. we cant really say he did.. its not a "pitty" award.. .its coach of the year :)
