You know I think Jimmy had a huge ego and he sure did not do u sany favors. However, I am disappointed that Shula keeps lashing out. A man of his stature is typically above that kind of stuff. It is also distracting at a tiem that is supposed to be about Marino. Not my favorite Shula moves.

As far as the Flutie Flakes, get over it cow pie. It was nto a slam against the kids and you Bills fans know it. It was a slam at Flutie Flakes. And make no doubt about it, although a "portion" of the proceeds goes to autisim some other people are making profit as well.
I have no problem with what Johnson did. It was symbolic of Flutie not Autisim.

don't forget, Flutie had beat Jimuh before..there was "hail Mary" bad blood between them

Yeah, JJ showed a lot of class when continually bashed Shula, hoping to free up the job that he always wanted. And JJ showed a lot of class when he would blame losses on inidividual players, always naming names to the press. It wasn't like the old days, when a loss was a team loss, and Shula kept from embarassing players to the media. And it was classy of JJ to basically blame his failures in Miami on being handcuffed by Marino. Geez, JJ, are you sure it didn't have anything to do with the fact that you failed to bring in any decent offensive talent? or that you wasted high draft picks on players like Dorian Brew, JJ Johnson, Ronnie Ward, John Avery, Yatil Green, Brent Smith, and Larry Shannon? Yeah, that JJ, he's all class alright.

With Don Shula still lashing out at his successor 5 years after the fact, saying that Marino "only had one coach" and such, I'm glad that Jimmy is taking the high road with this. He could easily counter with some verbage of his own, maybe even pointing to Marino's inconsistency during the last couple of years, but that would take some of the spotlight off Danny and his HOF induction...and he knows it. For that, I am thanking Jimmy Johnson.

Now were the inconsistencies due to an impotent offensive coordinator and collection of scrubs for surrounding "talent"? Most definitely, but still he chooses to remain silent and let Dan enjoy his moment. I'm drinking a green lizard in your honor, coach.

I always liked the style of play that JJ instilled in his players, but he is a different person outside of the public arena. He is very arrogant...perhaps he is just saving himself some grief, afterall, why would he get into another verbal spat with one of the greatest coaches of all times. He stands to lose in that situation...so, I agree to let Dan enjoy his time in the sun, and JJ...you'll never be as good as Shues was as a coach...

JJ is a nice guy, I've gone fishing with him down South, and he's a really smart guy who did a lot for this Dolphin defense. With that being said, he is on Fox, and has 20 weeks of Live Air to work with, don't you think there will be a time where it comes up in a topic of conversation.

Johnson may have been a good evaluator of talent, but classy is an adjective I would never use to describe JJ. The day Jimmy Johnson was named head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, he left his wife. He didn’t need her any more and he didn’t lose any time in losing her. He confessed that he never bought his sons birthday or Christmas presents. He just didn’t have the time, and they weren’t a priority. He was quoted as saying "Football is my number one priority, and my sons are my second." :shakeno:

I think you guys missed the context of the thread. It was about class of a HC. That act was not a characteristic of a Professional HC . Was it JJ's main goal to beat Flutie? Was it something personal? You don't see HC's stomping on a qb's picture after they win ,do you?

If it wasn't wrong then he wouldn't have apologized. :shakeno:

So your telling a HC with sb's stooped down to try and pump up his team by such actions?Who did JJ think he was coaching, a bunch of high school players?

Don't be a hypocrite, Flutie's son is autistic. If you were Flutie , you'd be peeved by such an act especially by a supposed professional HC. It's probably why Dan didn't like JJ, his kid is also autistic.


If Marino had his own Marino flakes that was created to help autistic research and Mularkey stomped on it, you finfans would be whining.

Classless, well I believe some of you Bills fans stab a dolphin and have ketchup oozing from the knife wound. Then shake them and hang them from hooks! That however is CLASS!

The flakes were Doug "FLUTIE FLAKES" not AUTISIM FLAKE and Doug made money on it too. The flakes were ripped open and flung all over. It was meaningless and hurt nobody, it actually shined more light on autisim and the foundation than ever before.

Actually, he used that same tactic at both Dallas and UM. If there was a highly marketed player on the opposing team he usually mocked them. Sometimes before the game and sometimes after when they won. (I used to play with Michael Irvin in high school. We talked a few times when he was at Miami and then at Dallas.)
