Jimmy Johnson blasts Dolphins on Radio

Sad thing is he makes solid points.

Thanks. Good points. I guess we should have been more careful when we selected JJ's successor.

I have to agree with him about trading picks. I think we definitely trade away to many draft picks. But then again, take a look at our pics under Wanny and take a look at who we acquired via trading picks. Hmmmmmm.

Umm, it is very rare to be fishing for dolphin and to have cell phone signal. I lose signal 7 miles offshore in Islamorada.

He might have a point but

Who is he to point fingers about wasting first round picks. He might have not traded them away but he sure wasted them Yatil Green, Avery. If Ricky would have not been such an idiot its not that bad of a trade. We have wasted several draft selections on running backs that didnt pan out. Actually Jimmy Johnson wasted several picks on these running backs.

He never mentioned Dave, not sure if you two read the article. He basically had issue with trading picks for Ricky, and that those 2 #1s have hurt us this year. He also said trading picks now is too early to say if it's a bust yet. Also, that maybe we didn't need to make a QB change. Nowhere did he mention Dave.

As for the points, very valid. I just think we did the opposite of what JJ does and that's why he disagreed. He traded players for picks, we traded picks for players. So naturally he's going to disagree.

how about a 2nd rounder for JJ Johnson, a third rounder for Abdul Jabbar ? Any pick at all for Cecil "see my pee pee" Collins ??

"The Dolphins have to make rational decisions not only for today but for tomorrow and the future, because if they don't it's going to skyrocket downward quickly."

This from the guy who knows Wanny best.

It's amazing how hindsight helps people say that the trade for #34 was too much. Until the middle of July it was still looking good to most of us.

It depends on your carrier. I've had Cingular work as far out as 19 miles offshore in the Key Largo/Tavernier area.

Yeah but I dont think our future is mortgaged at this point. Like someone said on Maddogs show yesterday, nobody, NOBODY was saying we gave away too much or we were wrong for trading for Ricky when he rushed for 1856 yards. Everyone was jumping for joy. Hindsight is a funny thing, it allows people to say see I told ya so. That is why it is ridiculous to me that there is unreasonable expectations regarding RS. You say he needs to address these positions and when he does you criticize WHO he selected. You use hindsight to explain why he was wrong. In 03 hindsight was used to say he was wrong in waiting on a better option at LT and then none came and we were stuck. In hindsight said he should have waited on qb and gotten Warner and Garcia (who I think suk. Warner had one good half) Or even Collins, etc. You can (you being a generalization, not a specific individual) sit there and say it is diff cause he should know and have people who know. Fact is you only say that because you KNOW what transpired. As a GM you do not have the luxury of knowing the future. You have to make the best informed decision at the time. Weighing the risk of waiting vs the talent/potential/cost of what is available at that time. Rs felt Feeley was the bet option vs what he was gambling he may be able to get. That is what he is PAID to do. He and he alone will live with that decision.

He is so wrong its not even funny. No, the mistake was giving up a 3rd for Gordon and a 2nd for Feeley. THOSE Picks will hurt us more. We won 10 games with Ricky last year. 10 wins in a season is good and is a playoff team 9 times out of 10. Losing those picks didn't hurt us.

Losing these upcoming picks is going to kill us because NOW we are a bad team and need more talent.

the whole point of people bringing up Dave's name is BECAUSE JJ avoided it like he avoided offensive talent in the draft.. He knows that this is partly his fault.
