Not a fan of JLC but there are some interesting tidbits.

Ray Farmer has a lot of support from Carl Peterson and people close to the situation feel he'll get offered the job.

Dawn Aponte, Matt Higgins, and Tim Garfinkle are in the meetings.

Now he says that the candidates are concerned that if they feel a change will be need in 2015 they are not sure how things will go with Ross and Aponte both being very close to Joe Philbin.

Rest of the article seems more speculation saying that for guys like Omar Khan and Marc Ross the whole set up wouldn't be as attractive as "stable" situations with their current team, and also says many feel that Tom Gamble wouldn't leave Philly.

Mentions we reached out to Scot McGloughan but he doesn't want to leave Seattle.

Now before people start with the doom and gloom, there is a lot of speculation in the article, and JLC is known for reporting speculation as fact. But still worth talking about

I thin Farmer would do well, has anybody even contacted Highsmith?

Well reports are they have finished interviewing 4. I find it surprising they are ready to offer a job without a second interview or even completing the first round. There were six scheduled I believe.

LaConfora also reported Aponte has a very strong presence in the room. Open to interpretation.

This has been the concern with keeping Philbin all along. However it is odd that Miami gets the stigma of a bad org model when Tampa is doing it worse now and Carolina and NYJ did it last year...
Haters gone hate.

Not buying ito that yet. Interviews haven't even concluded yet. The leading candidates keep changing for both here and Tampa.

Chambers thanks for all the updates on the GM search! Much appreciated.

Sorry if I missed it, but has Gamble accepted an interview? I also thought Ross made it clear that both Philbin and the new GM will report directly to him, so I am assuming that the new GM will not have unilateral authority to fire Philbin after 2014.

After looking into all the candidates, I am starting to become a fan of Farmer, so I wouldn't be upset if he ends up getting it. Gamble would be my first choice, but Farmer would be a good hire also.

I'm not buying into anything unless I hear it from the dolphins organization. Too much speculating going around this time of year.

That being said, I don't like the idea of us hiring farmer just because of his past with peterson. I hope everybody is getting a fair shot at this. We have seen the dolphins "buddy" system fail too many times in the past.

Here is another article from JLC I read this morning. Sounds like we may have passed on hiring a guy with deep NFL connections, Ray Anderson instead to hire Ross' "buddy" Garfinkel, for the CEO position. Also, itis interesting to see that former fin Troy Vincent is one of the candidates for the job Aponte withdrew from.

Outgoing NFL VP of Football Operations Ray Anderson was a finalist for Miami’s CEO opening earlier this season, according to league sources, and received a strong push from within the league office for the position. Ultimately, the Dolphins ended up hiring Tom Garfinkel of the San Diego Padres for the position (Garfinkel had ties to owner Stephen Ross through their University of Michigan connections).

erson, who has a wealth of NFL experience, quite likely may have begun the process of restructuring and altering the front office of the Dolphins more quickly, and it stands to reason the team might be positioned differently had they gone in that direction. Garfinkel is very well thought of and has made a strong impression in his brief time in the organization, sources said, but obviously he lacks the contacts and NFL background that Anderson offered.

Dolphins executive vice president Dawn Aponte was a candidate for the NFL VP of Football Operations position, league sources said, but withdrew a few weeks ago to focus on her role within the Dolphins organization, where she carries considerable weight. Former Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli is a leading candidate for the job, sources said, while the top internal candidates are Merton Hanks and Troy Vincent, two former standout defensive backs who were trained under Anderson at the league office.

Jason La Canfora doesn't exactly have a stellar track record at predicting these things.

I heard tweeted by Abramson (I think) that Peterson was clearly leading this thing and that he had Aponte "nudged" aside from sources inside supposedly. Which I could see this as I am sure they are concerned with perceptions.

I wouldnt buy anything LaConman has to say.

Didn't LaCafora read Ross's statement? I'm confused I thought all this was cleared up last week.
