Joe Philbin earns high praise

He used time outs to help Carolina beat us.

Yes, clearly its next to impossible for a team to go a whole 30 yards with only a minute and forty six and one timeout. How does a NFL coach not know we had the game won there? YOU NEED MORE THAN 1:46 AND A TIMEOUT TO GO 30 YARDS JOE, YOU ****ING MORAN!!

Really? We're judging a coach by how he stares on the sidelines?

Yes, that is usually an indication that someone doesn't know what to do. Just like picking one factual sentence a person thinks they can make something about because they really don't have an answer to the rest of the comment.

Joe has done a good job keeping the team together.

I still state that on game day, Joe leaves a lot to be desired. He does not give his team a competitive advantage on the sideline.

The St Louis Rams and their HC want their closet fan back.

He is a second year head coach that still has some growing to do. He brings creativity to the job. His practice changes have helped. He held the team together during crisis. I want to see him for two more years. That will be a good time to judge him.

Really? You roll through this thread giving a "no thanks" to every other post and the one you contribute is a weak attack on another poster without adding anything to the conversation or an explanation as to why you think the rest of us have invalid opinions?

I very rarely get irked in an online forum but this just makes no sense to me.

Can I just say this....again.

* I wanted Brian Billick
* I liked the idea of Jeff Fisher, but knew he would never come.
* I loved the McCoy candidacy.

Speaking of Fisher, it is funny he left for an "easier" division by the NFC West...oops. However, with that said, Jeff Fisher and his organization is about to take off. They could have the 2nd pick of the draft because of the RGIII deal. Good cap situation. Strong on the lines.

You can hate Fisher, but do not make out like they are not in a spot to do something in the coming years.

Your opinion is jaded on Coach Philbin. Regardless of how you try to spin it, you throw your jabs at him on a consistent basis.

*Billick is a non issue, as you brought out your pom poms for Fisher.
*McCoy continues to be underwhelming in SD.

Fisher who ended up in the NFC West, with NO dominant QB or coach in the division...ooops. While you cheerlead Fisher from FH, his team had/has more pieces than the Phins did. A veteran QB and strong lines. All the while he has put up a 5-8 record, playing in a dome and facing division foes outside of SEA, that all play in warm weather climates. MIA facing 3 teams in the northeast could only wish to have the luxury of being able to stay in indoors in NOV and DEC.

And I don't hate Fisher, I just think he's overrated. And his coaching to date in STL has proven my point. The fact ARZ has done more with less, in the same division, makes my point.

I have just as many 'thanks' today as I do 'no thanks. I have slk018 spamming me with 'no thanks' right now.

I have given 3 thanks in this thread to the 4 no thanks. slk018 started spamming his 'no thanks', and I took those off him. I don't want to get pointed by the mods, because if you spam those 'no thanks' you will get pointed here.

NOW, stop being butthurt for people not agreeing with your POV. I have been a COACH PHILBIN supporter, through thick and thin. Why haven't I said anything in this ONE thread. Because giving a 'thanks' to those post I agree with, should say those poster/s are reading my mind, or saying it better than I could. Now go away and stop whining. And I would advise slk018 to add something of substance. He's nothing more than a bitch needing a hug.

And only four weeks ago, roughly 130 of the 290 people (45%) who voted in a poll here thought he should be fired. :)
four weeks ago, a situation arose on OUR football that was unprecedented in professional football, and our team was falling apart and had a losing record. what philbin has managed to do, is pull this team together, get the Oline peforming at a respectable level, and bring us to within a hair's distance of making the playoffs. some of us 45 percent may have been wrong to pull the trigger on the "fire the man" gun. You can take your passive aggressive attitude and stow it where the sun doesn't shine.

All you have to do is look at Bill Belichick, when he took over the HC position with the Cleveland Brown, it was less then stellar, then when he took over the Patriots position, it was average at best, including a start by getting crushed by the Bills the year they won a SB.

This is Philbin's 1st stint as a HC, he will get better (Hopefully...Sparano never did) with time management, and his experience will make him eventually a better game day coach.

You can spin anything you want. I am just telling you honestly what I thought the team should do at HC a few years back. I am not a revisionist. I had a major issue that Joe had never been a HC or called plays in GB. I think his lack of game day skills reflect those issues I had.

As Joe stands at 7-9 last year and 7-6 this year, let's not make out that he has blazed trails in Miami to this point.

My point was that Fisher made a mistake in going to St. Louis. He would have a better chance in the AFC East.

Again, in terms of Philbin, he has done a great job keeping the team together and focused. However, I think he struggles on game day.

I don't get how you can profusely get after someone who actually doesn't consider Philbin a coaching savant up to this point.

Hayden's assessment is very fair - he is a good locker room guy, a good leader when it comes to focus/etc - but his IN GAME management has been mediocre at best.

That's not as much an opinion as it is a fact based on performance. Just based on this season, we came out off a 11 day break to play the 0-8 Buccaneers - and lost. We came off our BYE week, a 14 day break to play a mediocre Bills team - and lost.

Just those two examples are HUGE - those are HUGE indictments of his ability as a coach. But we consistently are getting demolished in the second half of games, where are the half time adjustments? This is another indictment of him.

I'm not even trying to harp on the negative because I think he has been at least decent for us up to this point and I'd like to think better than Cam Cameron or Tony Sparaon... but the facts are, that up til now, he's been about average (and surprise, so has our teams record).
