Joe Philbin earns high praise

And only four weeks ago, roughly 130 of the 290 people (45%) who voted in a poll here thought he should be fired. :)

Imagine that. Wait until the next lost, everything will be right back to usual. They are only lurking right now, with nothing to say. Just wait, things should be back to normal soon enough..

Joe is a stand up guy, there is no question about that.. His lack of second half adjustments this year has costs us though. Perhaps there wasn't a better choice to lead us out from under the bullying scandal, but he does need to improve his in game coaching.

Whether the reasoning is valid or not, you do take shots at Philbin whenever you get the chance Hayden. While there are valid concerns that WB addressed about Philbin (though Dion Jordan is getting used a fair amount, just not always as a pass rusher) you sometimes take it overboard.

That is all I've been saying. Anything Phins, Hayden will take his usual jab at Philbin. Its the norm. Its why I make light of it. The sun goes up and the sun goes down, and Hayden will be there jabbing at Philbin. Its text book Hayden.

As Philbin supporter, I understand and accept the shortcomings that come with him being here. A learning curve should be expected. Next year, I won't be as forgiving, as RT and Coach will both be expected to deliver on a higher level of play.

Here's the thing... I don't think he should be fired, I think he has done enough to earn another year, and the owner certainly seems to think so. That doesn't change that, in my opinion, he has been underwhelming this season - not a bad coach, not even asking for him to be fired, I just had higher expectations for him and he has fallen short *so far*.

I'm hoping for the best, and I want to give him another full season, but to this point, I can't help but feel a little disappointed in his overall production. That's all I'm saying.

Here is my deal. I feel that Joe does not give the team an "intellectual advantage" versus other coaches. Also, I think he is a bad game day coach. Things like getting the team fired up, putting the foot on the throat of the opponent and finishing off opponents this team has been weak at over the past two years and see limited progress in this area.

I am hard on Joe...yes...and I do not disagree that I might be to hard on him. However, I still stand by my criticism.

To be fair, I thought this team would split apart with the Martin/Incognito scenario. However, Joe has done great keeping the team together. To be fair (again), I have praised him for that in many threads.

I also have wished him luck, along with his staff, when Ted Wells came to investigate. While I dump on Philbin, I never would believe he ordered a "Code Red" on a player. Joe is decent man and would never do something like that.

I felt for him and others that they could be fired for Martin's complaints. That would not be right and stated he should not go....NOW, I have also said that if Jeff Ireland is canned then I feel Joe should go too. I do not want "shotgun marriages".

Finally, I have been steadfast in that if Steve Ross wants to keep Joe he should do one of two things....1) Elevate Brian Gaine to GM or 2) Double down on Joe and allow him to pick his own GM. I just do not want a forced relationship.

This team is never doing anything with Ireland at GM.

1. because I don't think its possible to win it all with a below average GM even if you have the best head coach and QB in the league
2. because Tannehill is many years away from winning without a great team around him, to put a great team around him we need a great GM.

So if we finish 8-8 or worse and need to cut Philbin's career short to purge us of Ireland then so be it.

Ireland is not looking bad right now.

Ireland is going to be here a long time!

I do not necessarily believe that either. These last three weeks mean a ton to the futures of the people running the organization.

Well Hayden, I see your point, and may agree, but why do you have so much green on your wpa, when your so critical on this team, which I like, yet I have so much red, when I try to say the same things?

Is there any way I can reset my wpa rating?

No I didn't think it would be the worst o-line in franchise history, don't think anybody thought it would be that bad, but I did find it puzzling we didn't pick up another one of the tackles in free agency.

It reminded me of last season with the WR position, I kept waiting for us to add another WR right up until the first day of the season but it never happened.

Another one of the fifty reasons Jeff Ireland should be fired. Forcing Tannehill to go through his rookie season with that set of wide receivers was absolutely criminal..

Pardon me while the media sprays rainbows out of its ass. This team has done tons of stupid **** throughout the season that could have been and sometimes were game killers. The amount of little mistakes that occur is sometimes mindboggling. I'm sure it also drives Philbin nuts, but he's not without fault either.

Anyway, this team won't win a playoff game unless it cuts all that out. It's not the well-oiled machine that Marino ran, that's for sure. I think they need time.

Number one in penalty yards under Philbin and thats probably the reason we're in most games.

And delivering the worst o-line in franchise history is much worse for a young QB, at least the **** WRs could be looked at as a learning tool, like having to play to smaller greens in golf. Your score will be worse but when you get to play to normal greens you should be better for it.
