According to the reports from the Lions forum, Joey Harrington was being sought out by KC for a 1st & 3rd round draft pick as a possible replacement for Trent Green'e medical condition.

I mention this due to the other days report on this site that the Dolphins
were intrested in a trade for Joey Harrington as well.

Chiefs' Green has stent put in leg artery
NFL.com wire reports

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 1, 2005) -- Doctors have placed a stent in an artery in Trent Green's lower left leg and put the Kansas City quarterback on blood-thinners in an effort to restore full circulation.

Green, who underwent four operations on his left knee six years ago, will not play Sept. 2 in a preseason game at St. Louis but does plan to be ready for the Sept. 11 season opener against the New York Jets.

"By (Sept. 7), I'll be able to do everything full-go and be ready to go with no complications or problems for the opener," he said. "That was one of the things I wanted to find out."

Doctors were not able to say with certainty what caused the condition that led to numbness and lack of feeling in the leg and foot and caused him to come out of a preseason Aug. 27 against Seattle in the first quarter.

KC has offered the Lions 1st and 3rd round picks for Joey Harrington. What would we have to give up to get RB Larry Johnson?

I know alot of you guys are against this trade. Think about it the NFL analysts have the Lions going 8-8 or worse with Harrington as the starter. 8-8 might not get you a wild card spot in the NFC so we should except the trade. Get something for Harrington because we all know if Detroit finishes worse than 8-8 with Harrington he will be cut after the 2005-06 season and we will get NOTHING for him in return.

With Garcia out this puts Detroit in a tough spot. We need a #3 if Dan O if Dan O moves up to the #2 spot.
Joey Harrington's contract is up in 2007.

I wouldn't give a 1st and 3rd for Harrington...

I could justify a 2nd and 4th...

Yeah me either... the Lions have denied the reports though...

Lions deny Harrington-to-Chiefs trade rumor
Saturday, September 3, 2005
By Tom Kowalski
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The trade rumor regarding Detroit Lions quarterback Joey Harrington and the Kansas City Chiefs isn't true, according to the Lions.

A Detroit area radio station reported that the Chiefs were in contact with the Lions in hopes of putting together a trade package for Harrington, the Lions' fourth-year quarterback.

"That's a new one on me," said Lions president Matt Millen, adding that he has had no contact with the Chiefs regarding Harrington.

i have a good feeling that the bills just saved Harringtons carrer.

i think eventually Mooch would have pulled him for Garcia. now i think he will stay in all season, and play better the second half of the season.

i still remember the bills almost drafting him. damn lions had the 3rd pick, we had the 4th.

still, injuries SUCK. :(

I wouldn't mind a trade for Harrington.

I always liked him, he got a raw deal so far in Detroit.

However, hi splay thus far doesn't warrant giving up a 1st.

2nd and 4th sure, maybe

he has? he's be given the world in terms of offensive weapons, yet continues to disappoint

Harrington is going no where. Garica broke his leg the other night.

The more I think about it the less I like those Tedford schooled QBs.

All Joey Harrington has been given was Roy Williams. Charles Rogers hasnt been on the field due to injury. Kevin Jones had a great 2nd half last season but thats only 1/2 a year with a quality back. Harrington didnt play bad last season and with even more experience and more weapons he should have a breakout season. Not many QB's are statistical giants in their first few years.

I said that before the draft, I have not been impressed by any of his QBs. Tedford was on the Jim Rome show ( think it was that show) in March talking up his QBs and I was like but they all sucked int he pros!! They may do well in College but they apparently do not make a good transition into the NFL.

Well, he hasn't done anything really. You are right about that.

But it's not like his weapons are on the field alot.

So he really hasn't had that talent around him all year. Very few rookies are amazing their first year.

I mean in 2 years Rogers has only played in 5 games.

So we are looking at a QB who in 2 years has really only had Roy Williams. Who got hurt for like 2 games. Prior to this injury Harrington had a completion % over 60, had a QB rating over 100. The team went 4-2( the first 8 games of the season, 2 were without Williams and Rogers so with the talent he went 4-2). He had a 12/4 TD to INT ratio in the first 9 games where Williams missed 2 games. During this span his lowest rating was 60.2 with no WR'S both were injured this game. He had a high of 140.5 after that the lowest rating was 73.7 then none lower then 80.

So to me it looks like he performed when he had a healthy WR. We're not talking about 2 or 3 good WR'S we are just talking about 1 good rookie WR he had and performed well.

Coincidentally when Williams got back from injury not only did his numbers drop but so did Harringtons.

So yeah, IMO he has gotten a raw deal because he has always performed well when he had healthy targets. The problem is that he has only had 1 good WR he now has a solid RB.

He will be fine and he doesn't mind stepping up and running with the ball if he needs to.

Though I will admit. When Rogers was healthy his first season Harrington's stats were not impressive. But, like I said, he had no running game, he had a bad O-line and Rogers was still a rookie.

1st and a 3rd?? Did Carl Peterson just get back from a Rick Spielman seminar??

Good lord.

a 1st and a 3rd?? or even a 2nd and 4th?? Has anyone watched him play? He's is horrible, better but not much than we have now.He would just be another band aid, not the franchise QB that we are after.Unfortunately, that person is probably in college or still in high school somewhere.

I can't quite figure out why some say that Harrington has disappointed. Look at his numbers. He has improved in every year. Last season, he improved his QB Rating by 13 points over his previous season, completed close to 60% of his passes, and had 19 TD passes to 12 interceptions.

Somehow, this is a disappointment? I think some fans just have their minds made up and nothing will change it.
