BTW...saying the Dolphins would lose the rights to RW because he files bankruptcy is like saying you lose the rights to your car if you put cheap gas in it....It's just stupid......

I will give you another example...Deion Sanders.......Do you remember what happened with him when he retired?....Okay...you can admit you were wrong anytime now.

Did not say Miami WOULD lose his rights if he filed. Said if he is granted then there is a possibility that he contract could be voided. Not a given simply because he files or is granted it.

Great analogy. Made total sense.

What about when Deion retired?

Apples and oranges.

Deion was not granted bankruptcy either, nor did he ask for it.

I know if you retire and you have years remaining on your deal, then your contract still ties you to that team for the length of the remaining year.

However bankruptcy CAN change that. The contract can be voided.
 
For Christs Sake!!!!! I don't care about his contract being voided...they can set it on fire for all I care......HIS RIGHTS BELONG to the Miami "F'N" Dolphins No Matter WHAT!....PERIOD...end of debate.
 
If he pays back the 8.6 million...he still has the contract obligation.....He is OBLIGATED to it....If they void the contract...He would still be the property of the Miami Dolphins for the length of time that remained on his contract and he would need to qualify the time to have it count....

So in other words...he is our property for three years....Not starting now......But starting whenever he decides to come back...so if he came back in 2198.....he would become a UFA in 2201....Get it Now?

That's it...I am done with this stupid debate.

You should care, because RW could be playing elsewhere and Miami could be left with nothing in return.

NFL rights are tied to contracts. When the contract expires then you become a FA. If you meet the bargined guiddlines for being a NFL FA.

RW meets those guidelines. What is so hard that you do not understand this.

How can RW contract be void, but Miami could then retain his rights?

Once you are out from under a deal, then your rights belong to you, not the team.

Where you are wrong. If his deal is voided then how would Miami retain his rights unless they were allowed to place a tag on him?

A voided contact means the last three years are voided. Its like the contract never was.

Miami will retain his rights just as the Detroit Lions still retain Barry Sanders' rights.

No other team is allowed to talk to him unless they go through Miami. That's a Big No-No.

We are not talking about RW simply retiring and paying back the money he owes the team. If RW did that then Miami retains his right.

If RW files bankruptcy then it CAN changes that simple rule.

The point Barry never filed for bankruptcy protection (Not that RW has) but if he does and it is granted then his contract could be voided and if it is then RW would no longer be under contract to Miami.

So now my question. How can Miami retain his right when they have no contract to enforce? Detriot still had a contract to enforce on Barry.

Rights are tied to contract and bargined between the NFL & NFLPA.

They have said if a player is no longer under contract and has 4 or more years of service then that player is a FA.
 
Ricky would be able to play for somebody in the CFL but not the NFL.
 
There is no sense arguing about it.

We will find out soon enough but I have no doubts that the Dolphins will retain his rights.

As long as Miami does not go after the money then they retain his rights.

However if they go after the whole 8.6 at one time then it will get interesting.

Also on Inside the NFL they were talking and they tend to believe Miami will garnish future earnings.

Which would be even more devestating to RW if he plays for another teams.
 
The Lions got money back from Sanders also and still retained his rights.
