John Clayton on Mike and Mike

Whoever the new GM is needs to do what Jimmy Johnson did after Shula mortgaged the future with free agents. Cut Ellerbe, Wheeler, Wallace, and anyone else who is not a fit and makes too much money. In a perfect world, I'd rather restructure Wallace to a humble contract but I doubt his ego will agree with him. Take your lumps up front with salary cap hell and move forward.

I'd be willing to keep Wallace as I do feel he'd do better in a system that moved him around (even in Pittsburgh his hands weren't great). I'd also willing to be talked into giving Ellerbe another chance. Sure he misses tackles but he's in good position quite a bit in the run game. Wheeler can **** off for all I care

Get us a coach that's gonna grab a player by the facemask when he commits a dumb personal foul, when we're getting the ball back after a 3rd down stop, and scream so hard at him, that everyone in the back row can see the spit coming out of his mouth when he's yelling!!!!!

This is on Ross...IF I was the owner the following would have happened:

BOTH Sparano and Ireland would have been canned after the 2010 season...if for some reason I forgot to fire them in 2010. I would have canned BOTH in 2011...I would have hired a GM and link him directly to the new coach. I would have had a hold over from the previous regime.

I would have immediately hired Bill Polian after he was canned and told him to put the full court press on Manning when he was released as well.

mere speculation, without any knowledge of who the new coach would be we can't predict what he would want to do

Who will want to coach this team now? Seriously.

Depends on who the GM is for a lot of people and how much turnover Ross wants to do. At the end of the day there are only 32 head coaching jobs in the NFL and you can't be picky because at some point teams will stop looking at you

Bill Polian is not a good gm. Micromanages and has terrible personnel choices.

Field goal fist pump? I don't remember him grabbing anyone by the face mask and swearing him out on the field. If a guy makes a mistake on the field in games, you either chew him out publicly, or you do what Belichick does. Bench him for a quarter. It's not as fiery, but it gets the point across. But you need one or the other. Philbin just stares like a deer in the headlights. Its like you can see his thoughts. "That just happened, why did he do that? well, something to talk about in film study"

Cap implications and the number of holes we have probably make it at least a two year process.

A good GM can overcome that.

Restructure players and besides next year Miami still has 30 mil under cap.

Jameis Winston is not going to be good in the NFL.

Why do you think?

Fire them right now for on the field performance, not for anything to do with the investigation. End the misery.

I am deathly afraid right now that Ross is going to be as loyal to Joe Philbin as he was to Jeff Ireland.
He might be loyal but he is also saying what needs to be said to protect against this stuff going on. Most spectators what to hear Philbin is not the reason for the bully mess. They would have a hard time firing anyone right this week because of the interwoven laws of employment and this scandal. It could get worse depending on Martin and his activist lawyer mom.
