It's a terrable situation for our team to be in. All of RBs potential should pay divdends for us. Ricky had a brain fart, he wasn't injured, so there is nothing to prevent him from coming back and being extremely productive and I expect that to happen. It's terrable...for the opposition! If this works out, (the OL will determine that), I look forward to seeing them both in the backfield at the same time, three or four times a game.

Agreed. Both at once just gives a MIND NUMBING amount of options for the opposing defense to consider. Just to name a few:

Fake to Ronnie, run Ricky in the other direction.
Fake to Ricky, run Ronnie in the other direction.
Ronnie blocking for Ricky.
Ricky blocking for Ronnie.
PA fake to Ricky, catch Ronnie with the deep pass down the field.
Line them both up in the backfield, motion Ronnie out either uncovered or with a LB on him.

Given Ronnie's ability to act as a pass blocking FB, I'd rather just have them both out there every play... but I guess that defeats the purpose of keeping them fresh :)

Certainly gets my heart pumping though.

i dont think we will have a starting rb. they will both be involed in the gameplan. having two rb like this give us many options, hopefully they will be fully utilized. as much as some of u may hate to hear this due to past years,but i think a huge advantage having ricky and ronnie will be controling the clock. that is overlooked often.

something i just thought about with ricky is that i remember that he always started slow but then as he got more carries the yards started coming? is this going to be a problem? or was this more of a result of defenses stacking the line then wearing down late in the game?

I'd attibute it to the defense wearing down. He's a beat you down, I can last longer than you sort of back. Ronnie is also a very physical runner, so I think it will actually help them both by giving them a breather.

3 First Round picks invested in 2 HEALTHY, double threat and complete backs..... One is 2 years removed from a NFL Rushing Title......

Yea... it makes complete sense to keep one of them on the bench for the entire game.

With a healthy Gordon, Morris, Evans and possibly Harris..... I believe we have POSSIBLY the best RB/FB core in the league.

Makes complete sense to keep that kind of talent on the bench. Let's just 3 and out every possession and let the Defense carry us! Wait... Wanny isn't coaching now.... THANK GOODNESS!

Hate to break it to you, but at this point Ricky is a back-up after you guys.

Considering you just used a #2 overall pick on a RB, I'd say so.

Imagine the damage this offense can do on the ground with not one but two quality RBs...I like it.:D

You mean the runningback that's probably not going to be in camp on time? The Fins used two first rounders on Ricky so, if Ricky returns to his old form, both he and Ronnie Brown will see a lot of playing time.

Why do people keep bringing up how much we paid for Ricky when talking about how much playing time he will get? One hasnt even the slightest bit to do with the other. And, as for the RB thats probably not going to be in camp on time......LOL, yeah thats a real good argument. Ricky is just slightly late for the 2004 season, eh? And where will Ricky be the first4 games (5 weeks) of this season? Ronnie may miss a few days of training camp (although he has attended minicamps that Ricky missed), but he will be ready to play against Denver....same cant be said of Ricky.

I have been waiting for over thirty years for a situation like this to manifest itself again in Miami. It has the potential to lend itself to something VERY special. Puts the QB in position to be only an efficient manager. Puts offense in position to control first downs and clock with minimal risk of turnovers. Should/could afford passing game to be what ever it wants to be. "IF"

Yes and No, he is more then a backup, a backup does not go over 1000 yards 4 out of his 1st 5 years, this backup can easily go over 100 yards, and has hit the 200 yards mark a few times. Lets just call them 1a and 1b starters.

If Ricky returns as any where near the old Ricky...we WILL HAVE THE BEST RB/FB core in the NFL. Its easy to take pot shots in the off season when we just finished 4-12. Lets hope they are singing a different song come November.

I can't see blaming last year on just one player. Nor can I say our QB's were horrible.

I look at it like this. Our QB play was bad, our running game was bad. The common denominator was the Oline. And if you've got a bad oline, then both the running and passing game will suffer. Simple logic.
While I agree the QB's could of been better, its hard to toss a ball with much accuracy when you have a bunch of 330lbs+ guys coming to hurt you.

You are probably right, but if Miami had had some kind of a running game, and better pass protection, Feeley might have had more success. As far as would Coaches then have being fear of Feeley? Probably not, but that could have worked in Feeley favor.
