John Clayton Q&A On Ricky - Must Read

Let's think about it...ummm...h3ll no! He will play for league minimum AND pay back the $8.6 million or not play at all. We owe him no compromise. This is business now not friendship. He threw away his chance to be treated with respect. We should do what is best for us - and giving him a single dime more than we have to just makes no sense. It's our way or the highway.

yeah bro that sounds real good. sounds like it will make a real happy employee that gives 100%. saban is a smart guy. he knows how talented ricky is. if you get ricky in here, have him happy with his new situation and the financial terms, he will help the team tremendously. it's funny how soon we forget exactly how good this guy is.

They should just take his cheque and give it to the 9482984 kids the guy has had with different woman...at the rate he's going he'll be NBA ready pretty soon.

I'm don't pretend to be holier then thou or moralistic in any way, shape or form but a memo to Rick...it's called a condom.

9482984 kids huh? maybe u should take your head out of your ***

It was sarcasm. Ricky has had kids with multiple women.

Excellent post!!!!! Thanks for the article Nublar! This is the best Ricky thread thus far... can't we just make the other 2,331 Ricky threads (in the last 2-3 days I might add) vanish and just keep this one?!?! :goof:
I aim to please. :goof:

I guess I worded this wrongly...I was not infering that this is how I think it should be done...I was thinking this may be the kind of deal he and his agent come up with to satisfy the debt he owes us...Actually, I am pretty sure that the Fins won't see any of that debt repaid...I think he'll sign for a compromise that is a little higher than the vet minimum with some incentives and be happy for at least this year...where it could get sticky would be IF everything goes right and he returns to his old ability (which I still doubt we'll see that this season) and then wants us to ante up next year...

I disagree. We don't owe him a compromise but he'll get one. Don't forget, there is some thinking that RW could declare bankruptcy and as a result become a free agent. I don't know what the compromise will be but RW will not play for the minimum AND have to pay the money due. Most likely, the Dolphins will get a salary cap friendly deal and forgive at least a portion of the debt.

This is the whole genius behind Saban's move to get ricky, which is what I think Spielman and others were also a part of. With time on Miami's side and Ricky's personal probs, Miami could control the deal and get him to play for minimum (cap) while putting him in a position to be a part time playa. YES!!!!

And you know this HOW??

Im just going to throw my two cents in here and say that it would be better for Ricky to play for the minimum, which is not chump change to us average people out here in reality land, and get his debt washed away for good. Ricky really doesnt care about the money except in the sense of having to pay back 8 mil. Its a no brainer to me. Ricky plays for the minimum and plays two years and basically has already used some of the money he owes so it is not like he didnt get it already.

I'll bet Saban works a deal wherein Ricky is financially penalized for the 1 year AWOL session but still makes good money...on a performace based contract which is cap friendly.

Basically, If Ricky runs like a madman then he gets paid accordingly. I also think the new contract will have some clause in it to ensure Ricky doesn't do to us what he did before. JMHO.
