Jonathan Martin traded to San Francisco

Just because they have been a good team the last few years does not make these move earth shattering. Both trades are boneheaded.

Sent from my Nexus 7 FHD

didn't say they were earth shattering. They get our starting tackle the past two years as their third tackle and a possible backup qb and yet these are dumb moves.

So dlockz would have traded our 6th round pick for Blaine Gabbert. I'll have to remember that one...

I can understand why they'd take the risk on Martin (not sure why they didn't just wait for us to cut him though) but I have absolutely no clue what the hell they were smoking when they traded for Gabbert.

You are just so quick to put down every move the Fins make but praise others regardless of what they do.

starting tackle the last 3 years? false. starting tackle for less than 1.5 years (game playing-wise). And one of the worst LT's in the 7 games he played last year.

san fran just wasted a pick on gabbert...that's the extent of it..dude blows...as soon as his teammates see him bailing out to avoid contact in camp they'll shun him...hot garbage

harbaugh thinking he's smarter than the game i guess...

Doesn't matter they are the 49'ers................it's brilliant!

Its definitely high risk when you trade for a QB who has no NFL future, and who was going to be cut anyway. You are basically throwing away a draft pick.

I think what you mean is low value moves.

You people act like every sixth round pick is gold when most of the time they don't make the damn team. Gabbert was with a horrible Jville team, maybe with better coaching and a better team he can improve.
Im not saying he is Steve Young but Steve Young looked pretty damn bad in tampa Bay. Please explain how this is a high risk move?
Its basically like they traded Mike Gillisee, Josh Kaddu or BJ Cunningham for a player. Hell we threw away quite a few high draft picks over the past few years. Im sure SF will not miss a 6th rounder.
You can just as easily get a player the caliber of a typical late sixth round pick as an undrafted free agent

never said it was brilliant but its a solid move for basically nothing.
hell we don't even get a pick if he doesn't make team and if he does he will probably be better than their late round pick would be.
He was better than our third round pick last year

typo and never disagreed he was a bad left tackle but they did not trade a late pick to make him the left tackle. Lets not forget it was our coach that started him at left tackle.
They have a top level left tackle. as your third tackle its a solid risk. Hell he was our number one tackle at beginning of last year and still our number 2 when he left the team.
Damn sure better than our third tackle has been in a while.

We get the pick regardless.

You are so full of crap. Lame response, just because I don't call a minor move somehow stupid. Where have I bashed the Albert move. Take that weak argument elsewhere. I have criticized a below average NFL team, they haven't went beyond that in the past 5 years but somehow Im just bashing the dolphins. Some people are so quick in reality to act like every damn move we make is genius and cant wait to jump in. Probably many of the same people that were saying that Martin was not a downgrade at LT last year or that ellerbee was the next coming of Ray lewis pr that Dion Jordan would be a better rookie than Jason taylor

Hopefully he gets the help he needs(the same goes for Richie, and he needs more help than Martin) and we can all move on.

Well said.

Gabbert had enough talent to be drafted in the first round and went to an awful team, which may have skewed things with him. From that point of view, I can understand why SF would give up a late 6th round pick to acquire him. But would you give up a 6th round draft pick for Chad Henne? Because that's about what we're asking here.

The 49ers are loaded with talent and depth from top to bottom, so they can afford to try reclamation projects with late round picks. That's about the only justification I can see for it.
