We get the pick regardless.
Gabbert had enough talent to be drafted in the first round and went to an awful team, which may have skewed things with him. From that point of view, I can understand why SF would give up a late 6th round pick to acquire him. But would you give up a 6th round draft pick for Chad Henne? Because that's about what we're asking here.
The 49ers are loaded with talent and depth from top to bottom, so they can afford to try reclamation projects with late round picks. That's about the only justification I can see for it.
Please explain how this is a high risk move?
Maybe he can be saved.
Most hated teams…
1. Jets
2. Pats
3. Niners
This guy plays scared. Deer in a headlights scared. He's afraid of the game, turns over the ball way too much, and is apparently in love with himself. This guy is what he is.
I understand why the 49ers felt like this was a good risk to take.
there's no logic behind it...gabberts a puss...doesn't matter what uniform you put him in...his jax teammates saw it his san fran ones will too...he should be out of the league frankly but that will come in time...i guess they gonna run a totally different offense with him in there than kaep also cause they are not anywhere close to the same kind of players
Let me put it this way, Gabbert lost his starting job to Chad Henne last year. If you think he could step in during an injury to Colin Kaepernick and help the team win, then you haven't seen this guy play.
This idea of yours that you can afford to throw away 6th round picks on players with no NFL future is not very well thought out. You have a better chance drafting a decent player with that pick than Gabbert ever becoming a decent QB.
How can u say he has no NFL future. Chad Henne was not wanted here and he is still in NFL. In fact he is still better than most qb's drafted in sixth round. Gabbert as bad as he is has still had more of an NFL career and is more likely to stay in the NFL than almost any sixth round pick qb.
Blaine Gabbert was Chad Henne's backup last year. Chad Henne is light years better than Gabbert, as a player and as a person.
