Jonnu Smith Trade?

They had no deep game last year! That is no answer for it! You don't think they would have loved to throw deep like they did the prior two seasons? It was taken away from them by the defenses they played.
So because they didn’t throw deep and instead took what the defense gave them underneath and still scored what would have been 9th best in the league with Tua at QB means they had no answer?

I guess the Chiefs and Bills and a host of other offenses had no answer for it either.

Ya they were figured out with the two deep safety look that teams played against them. They had no answer for it hence why the deep passing game they had in 2022 and 2023 went away last year.
Two deep answer is easy. Run ball. Not much to figure out. But Robert jones and Liam and second string right tackles stopped that . Most teams have decent backups. Not Miami.

Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh is now cooking! This thread is going that route.

As a long suffering fan (1984) this story is just another life sucking post and story on my long road of sufferance and continual punishment. When does it stop? It's not even on a loop. Its consistent.

Lmao is it? I’ll help you out it’s not.

Tyreek had a hall of fame résumé prior to joining Miami and is, has been and will always be a primary target in any offense he steps in. Jonnu is a journeyman tight end that was set to be a 4th option + next season.

Yes he had a great season and what was the result again? Oh yeah our worst offense under the McDaniel era. He was a product and a beneficent of everything that could go wrong going wrong ie no run game which resulted in higher screen attempts for him to try to substitute for a bad run game to draw safeties up and injuries to waddle and hill along with teams sitting in 2 deep. Maybe he has another great season if all goes wrong again but acting like he’s pivotal to Miami’s offense when they had the #1 offense in the league with Durham smythe as primary tight end is comical.

That’s on top of him going to be 31 and and asking for high end money. Even if you’re a 100% right he’s gone next season. I’m not giving a 31 year old journeyman who was nothing prior to playing only in this offense a multi year 10+ million dollar deal…

That went right over your head. I was completely being facetious. Obviously its ridiculous to think that Hill hasnt made a huge impact. Point I was trying to make is that the narrative that our previous TEs could produce the way Jonnu has but difference being is the playing calling and the players around is just as laughable.

The Chiefs didn’t want to pay Tyreek in the first place. I don’t see them taking on his monster salary now and trade a pick on top to get him back at 3 years older.

Miami has already paid his roster bonus and can take on his 15 million option bonus which would leave the new team with a 10 million dollar cap hit. Miami would probably ask a 2nd or 3rd but it’s an option.

The Chiefs haven’t been a deep throwing team since they traded Tyreek. They won those two Super Bowls by different ways on offense.

Tyreek’s cap hit balloons to over $51M in 2026.

Or quality starting guards either.

Probably went over my head because it’s still a stupid point to compare a primary target like hill and a 3rd or 4th option like Jonnu.

Nobody said other tight ends could produce like Jonnu, you made that up. My point is he’s not needed. We had better offenses in 2022 and 2023 without a good tight end target. He’s more of a liability in this offense as he can’t block so he’s essentially a 4th option wide out who telegraphs our plays. An actual tight end who’s not nearly the receiver as jonnu but can make an occasional catch while giving Miami the flexibility to run or even keep in to pass block would be way more valuable to Miami’s offense than Jonnu.

You also skipped the part where I said even if you are 100% he’s still 31 and wants a multi year deal worth 10+ million

Not guaranteed but no still wrong. That’s our cap hit which includes our restructured money and signing bonus. New team isn’t on the hook for that only his 29 million base, 5 million roster bonus and 1 million game bonus making the hit around 35 million or can cut for nothing and it’s a one year cheap rental.

There's plenty of great offensive lines in the league that don't have as good QB play and stats. Hurts is the difference.
Any component nfl starting qb would thrive behind that wall. I will bet you he gets the most clean pocket time out of any qb in the league. Burrow would be breaking records behind that line. As a matter of fact it's pathetic that Hurts didn't lead the league in passing yards etc.

This Hurts your argument in a big way. Pun Intended
