Did somebody say they'd take CK over Tannehill?

Based on what?

Probably overall team success. If you believe that only results -- not process or details -- matter, then you would absolutely take Kaepernick over Tannehill. You'd also take Dalton over Tannehill in that case.

49ers have a winning record, as do the Bengals. In fact, if you believe that only the team's record and playoff success matters, then Tim Tebow and Vince Young should absolutely have been brought in to replace Ryan Tannehill at some point during the last two seasons.

It's easy to me

Tim Tebow > Ryan Tannehill.

Jake Locker shouldn't have made it to his second season, and yet I guarantee you the Titans brass is glad they rolled the dice on giving him a year three. He was playing excellent football before he got hurt, despite having been really among the 2-3 worst quarterbacks in the league his first two seasons.

I'm all for bringing in competition, by the way. But to just bench him right now for Pat Devlin or Matt Moore would be crazy -- and I do see a number of people calling for that to happen.

Yeah, then they see how bad the quarterback position could be and they'd all come crying back "Remember the days when we had Ryan Tannehill?"
