I just watched Flynn on youtube, in the game last year against New England, mostly cuz many say, that this years game against Detroit, was mostly short completions. I was only looking for arm strength, because that seems to be the 'issue' on a few of the latest posts about him. I wasnt looking at accuracy or mobility, just arm strength, and it looked pretty damn good..

If Philbin makes Flynn his number one priority this offseason, that will tell me all I need to know about how good Flynn will be as a starter.

Agreed if they pursue him. Any new coach who is going to start his era in Miami by going after Flynn says it all. Because if he doesn't work out BYE BYE JOE

that will tell me that philbin certainly believes in him, whether flynn is really that good remains to be seen. it would certainly be a ringing endorsement and would give me more confidence in the position than i've felt in some time.

Exactly...Right now most here assume that just because we have Philbin, that he will want Flynn as his QB. BUT...it could be possible that Philbin does not believe that Flynn can be the franchise QB the Dolphins need. Time will tell, but if the Dolphins do not make a push for Flynn then it is fairly obvious what Philbin's assessment of Matt Flynn is.

I was one in another post mentioning that 2 or 3 of his TDs against the Lions were screen passes just to get across that just because he threw 6 TDs doesnt mean he is an amazing QB. I also NEVER said he didnt make good plays or throws, but I DID say he has a weak arm not much stronger than Pennington's. That being said, I will be 100% behind him if we bring him in because of Philbin's time spent with him.
Another thing I thought about.. Say we don't sign him but showed interest in him until he ultimately signed somewhere else. I think there is the possibility we'd do that to drive up the interest in him so that another team takes a shot at him leaving another QB on the board for us in the draft. Just a thought.

PHILBIN's STRONG endorsement, to me, is the "sine qua non". You all know that I feel MOORE is a very solid QB. But w/PHILBIN's strong endorsement, I'd be happy w/FLYNN. Without it, I don't even want to HEAR about FLYNN.

I respect Coach PHILBIN, and I trust his judgment.

he has lots of passes that are nice on target on slants but definitely he isn't a creator. Tooo much of a game manager for me.

Here is the New England game from a year ago...

And here is the Detroit game from this year...

I don't know who was telling the original poster that the Week 17 Detroit game was all dink and dunk but that wouldn't be my assessment.

Not all dink and dunk, but even his long passes looked horrible, lobbing them up for grabs. Flynn is NOT going to be a good starting QB. Once teams get some film and game prep on him, they will shut him down.
