Keep an eye out for Eddie Moore against the Bucs

Funny you posted this just now. I was just thinking that because Saban specifically said that, he would mean that if he doesn't show "something" soon he may be cut/traded. JMO.

I think your right.

  • Saban (On E. Moore) “Eddie has never really taken any reps in anything that we do."
  • Saban: "I am not going to give our players any excuses for not being successful, so we are going to take the guys that we have here and give each and every one of them to play as well as they can possibly play".
  • The NFL is a bottom line business and the bottom line on Moore is he has yet to prove productive. The reasons really don't matter at this point, it would clearly fall under the "excuse" category.
  • If he can be productive and the coaches believe in the guy... he stays. If not he goes... it's not like the guy is a "rainmaker".

I wonder what we could get for him on the trading block?

I'll be keeping an eye out for him too, I want to see how long an NFL team will pay a man a salary without him ever working.

Word is that he will get extensive playing time. This should be one of our first chances to see him play in quite a while. We'll get to see him in action in Saban's system, which he may be a little on the small side for, but right now Jason Glenn and Zach Thomas are proving that size doesn't matter as much as it should.

When healthy Eddie is very Jason Glenn-like in coverage. I like his coverage in drop zones on this defense.

I will definetly be keeping my eye on Eddie Moore. This is his make or break year....I believe this is the year the jury pleads its case....The guy has been a bust so far, but we really haven't been able to evaluate him completely...this is the year that he will decide whether he makes or breaks the team.

My disappointment with Eddie has never stemmed too much from the injuries. That lisfranc injury is real tough one to come back from, a career-ender. And last year I think he took an injury on the same wet slippery dirt infield that Ed Perry and a few others got injured on.

My disappointment in him stems from his play when he has been healthy. I know some of you guys have given him good reviews when he's on the field but he just never made the plays that a 2nd round pick linebacker should be making. I know there's plenty of excuses but sometimes I just feel like you can stuff your sorries in a sack as far as football production goes; you either produce or you don't. I mean if you think about Moore's draft standing, I know many will say we reached for him, but he was probably taken at a discount due to his injury history in college, so when he actually gets on the field the guy should be playing like a first round linebacker...it's just that he suffers third round injuries.

Look at a similar situation with Channing Crowder. We got Crowder in the 3rd round because he was a 1st round linebacker talent with a 5th round injury history. Knock on wood we haven't had to deal yet with his injury problems, but right now as he's on the field and playing injury-free we can clearly see the guy's first round ability. All I'm saying is that with Eddie Moore, I never saw that.

:rofl3:

At least i can probably get his jersey cheap?

I always thought we should be recruiting the guy that decked him in the bar.

I have been keeping an out for Eddie Moore for the last two years waiting to see him show up. I lamented the pick when we made it, I still do. It was a complete bust.

I am not sure why he has so many people here touting his abilities when he has shown nothing but how to be an expert on taking a cart ride off the field.

I hope he shows something, if not his career is over.

I expect to see some rust.

The sad thing is, when he finally got in last year....he did really well. I was very impressed with what I saw out of what was essentially a rookie. He could cover a lot of ground quickly. He tackled well, he could hit, and he could blitz.

But the guy just cannot stay on the field. Hopefully this will be the end of his injury troubles.

What's ironic is that while he's always been an injury prone guy, he was able to play thru those injuries in college. I don't think he ever missed a game at Tennessee. But in the pros, they've KO'd him.
I believe he missed his share of time in college with injuries. IMHO the reason most players will not play through the injuries in the pro's is simply that they are already getting paid. In college, they still have to prove they can play at the next level. In the pro's, the pay check will be deposited on time no matter what.

I have pretty much gave up on Moore. Moore just doesn't know how to stay healthy and i already would take Jason Glenn over him right now. Moore sure does have to work his *** off if he wants to be on this team.
