Keep Tony Sparano

Can we all at least throw money down to buy a time machine so we can be in 2012 already? I can't take waiting until next April to know if the team is going to be mediocre again

Even if we had a time machine and were able to jump forward and DO draft Andrew Luck, you can count on this team being mediocre even then for at least a year, maybe two. Think St. Louis Rams/Sam Bradford.

That's fine with me- as long as we get a franchise QB and a real coach, and have some kind of direction.

Look at it from Ross' perspective. He's here to make a profit and win. He will NEVER take the attitude that losing out will give him a better shot next year. H e is a business man, and wants to make money every week at home.
My point is that if he believes he can change something to have a better shot at winning, he'll do it. Including if it means dumping Sparano. Look how the players reacted when Jim Bates took over. They wanted to win for him, and pushed for him as the coach the next year.

totally agree
Firing Sparano right now solves nothing. Though it may make everyone excited for a moment.
Let him ride it out
Can him week 14/15 if necessary to get the jump on the next regime.

Manning doesn't know if he will ever play again. He also knows that he is not going to be benched for a rookie. Do you think he is worried about Luck? And honestly, do you think Bill Polian cares???

The Colts will take him if they have the #1 pick, bet on it.

Manning has not only indicated that he will play again, he wants to play against this season. They haven't put him on IR yet. And he specifically choose this surgery because it could get him back on the field with little problem. When he had the surgery, they called it a "career extending" surgery and not "career ending".

And does Bill Polian care? Well, lets see. Peyton Manning complains about lack of offensive firepower(despite already having Reggie Wayne), so they draft Anthony Gonzalez in the first round. He complains about not having a run game, enter Joseph Addai. Run game still suffers? Draft Donald Brown. About the only year they weren't taking Manning's concerns to heart was in 2010, when they drafted Jerry Hughes. And even then, less than a year later, people complained about not taking Rodger Saffold.
Keep in mind, Polian interviewed and scouted quarterbacks this year pretty heavily. They reportedly loved Andy Dalton. Instead of drafting Dalton, what did they spend their picks on? 2 offensive linemen with their top 2 selections.

The Colts have made one thing clear over and over again. They are going to build that team around Peyton Manning. This offseason, with the non stop attention to Manning, they stated they felt they could compete for at least 3 more Superbowls with him.
Now, they could very well take Luck. It wouldn't surprise me and would be extremely shrewd. Its no concidence that the Colts are struggling to win even a single game. Its because they are a very subpar team talent wise. If they would admit they need to rebuild and grab Luck, it would be brilliant. But i could see them being distracted by not wanting to offend their franchise quarterback. I mean, its not like we didn't see this very same thing happen in Green Bay. But Ted Thompson is alot more ballsy than Bill Polian.

We're only in contention with the Colts, Chiefs and Seahawks the why I see this.

The Bengals have seen enough of Andy Dalton to be believers and they have AJ Green.

The Vikings have invested in Christian Ponder.

The Colts are the team that really worries me because they understand more than anyone in the league the importance of a superstar QB and they're smart enough to really "Suck for Luck." Gotta root hard for those Colts tonight. I think it's a no-brainer we start out 0-4. Chargers look like trash today but you can guarantee that doesn't happen two weeks in a row.

I'm not willing to say we start out 0-5 because this team always plays a different brand of football against the Jets and Patriots. Obviously, I'm not going to be surprised in the least if we lose to the Jets, but I wouldn't be surprised if we beat them either.
I wouldnt be surprised to see teams with current QB prospects immediately trash them if given the chance to take Luck. I doubt Cincy, 49ers or Browns pass. Even the Vikes and Titans would be tempted. Arizona and Denver are still threats. You'd hope that some of these teams with borderline solutions at QB would be swayed by huge trades. The only terrible teams who would outright pass on Luck are the Rams, Panthers and probably the Jags.

I really do think the Colts are the biggest threat. That team is such a trainwreck without Manning. Also it's easier for a team and coaching staff to lose games when they can give themselves an excuse like Manning's injury.

Absolutely right. As much as I want to see Sparano fired now, him remaining coach is for the better good. None of you can tell me that you wouldn't feel better about our direction if we were developing Nick Foles, Andrew Luck, Matt Barkley, or Landry Jones for the future. Obviously Andrew Luck is the ideal choice, but I don't believe he makes it past the #1, and I have a hard time believing we can beat out Indy, KC, and perhaps Seattle.

It's obvious by now the players have quit on Sparano. They just "found" a way to lose today it seemed. I don't think they actually tried to lose, but it was strange how defensively we were sound all game and they were suddenly garbage when it counted. Then on offense where we had moved the ball with ease, we couldn't even gain a yard when it counted.

Either way, I hope we can keep finding ways to lose. Call me a 'fake' fan or whatever, but the bottom line is it's what this team needs.

A lot of you dudes still aren't getting it. I'm seeing a lot of threads and posts hoping that Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland are fired by next hour.

Why?

Let Sparano continue to fail repeatedly if you want any kind of run at Andrew Luck. If Tony is doing anything right and better than anyone else in the league it's losing and losing ugly that demoralizes the team.

He has lost this team. This team has quit on him. Let them continue to quit. There's no saving this dude. We know that eventually he's going to take the fall. Ireland as well more than likely. Ride it out, guys. In the end, it will all be worth it.

i dont give a F about next season, i dont want sparano on my sidelines period. I want him out NOWWWWWWWWWWWW LOL

And when we fire him NOW and the players rally around the interim head coach and finish the season 6-10 and we're picking 13th in the draft and still in the same sinking boat looking for a head coach and QB, then what?
