Keller's agent: He's ready to go right now

If Keller is healthy, I'd rather have him be our rec TE than use a first round pick on a rec TE. It gives us more options with the pick.

whether you sign him or not I don't think you let it impact your draft strategy. I don't care what his agent says, after an injury like that I don't think you can expect much from him....

I have no problem signing him to a prove-it deal but it wouldn't stop me from drafting a TE

I would wait until after the draft to make a move either way, but the way I see it we will have quite a log jam if we both draft a TE AND resign Keller. Clay is a big part of the offense, Keller would be even a bigger part, but we also have Sims who is a different type of TE that we really need. Then we also have Egnew who has shown flashes much like Clay did before last year. Egnew has tons of upside if he gets his head on straight and can play in this league. Even though this GM did not bring in Eggy he is cheap with potential, I doubt we kick him to the curb.

That would put us at 5 TEs, which isn't impossible to carry, but seems like a lot. The only way I see us drafting a TE is if it is in the late rounds or if we have no intentions of bringing back Keller. Personally I would LOVE to see us resign Keller and not draft another TE until we see how Egnew pans out for another year.

Give keller a chance and on top of it he will be had at a bargain price. This is a no brainer...
He got paid $5M last year for zero catches and zero yards and zero TDs. What happened to him was disgraceful and I hate to see unprotected players injured like that in a preseason game. However, we got zero return on a major investment and now you want to double down. What do you consider is a bargain price? Players who are used to receiving $5M don't usually want to play for league minima. Why is it a no brainer without knowing his precise medical status? The nature of his injury was so bad that there were genuine fears about him playing again. This reeks of his agent trying to lock up something 2 weeks before the Draft.

You are assuming he means pay Keller before a physical. What team does that? It's pretty easy to come to the conclusion that he means if Keller is healthy enough to play, pay him 2-3mil, with incentives.
