Kelly wasn't bad

This is a very true statement. People forget how tough the NFC was back then. The NFC back then was as good as the AFC is now.

Getting to the superbowl four straight times is an incredible feat. Sure people would have gone mental if we had won one, but I'll take being the second best team in the league for four years over not making the playoffs.

The eagles lost four straight NFC title games. Then lost a superbowl. How underrated is their chokefest?
Yep the eagles are big time chokers.. the 80s Bills....they were just playing a stronger team in the Bowl.

Seriously though, It's about respect, I know that there are many Bills fans that know how great Dan was regardless if he was a Fin.

It is a little easier to not hate Dan if your a Bills fan as he really never got in the way of thier success, while the Bills were a constant thorn in the Fins side for most of Dan's years.

Trust me I never had anything nice to say about Kelly while he was playing.

I hated the cowboys more even before the sb's until I met Dan personally. He was a jerk regardless of who he was talking to.

See it's comments like this that are just plain dumb, I bet you are the first one to defend Marino when people say he sucked because he never won a Suepr Bowl.

Kelly was not the reason the Bills lost the 4 SB's.

3 of the 4 they just played a better team and the other one they were out coached.
Kelly was one of the big reasons, maybe THE reason the Bills lost 4 straight superbowls, the QB is the one that has the ball every play. He threw 7 interceptions to only 2 touchdowns. If Tom Brady put those numbers in the superbowls the Pats would have zero rings to show for. You put Marino in those Bills teams and he would have at least 2 rings.

Kelly didn't fumble the ball which turned the game around. Thurman did. Our overated DL was outmuscled by the Cowboys dominant OL which pretty much made Smith do what he wanted.

I could be wrong about Kelly starting that game then getting injured. BUT, there were numerous times that he did get "hurt" when the team was losing badly. And somehow he was perfectly fine the following week everytime.
By the way, it was the very Super Bowl (against Dallas) that Frank Reich got Buffalo to, that Jim Kelly conveniently got hurt again. The only that was hurt about Kelly in that game was his PRIDE.

No your right and he's wrong. Reich came off the bench to lead them back to victory.

FRANK REICH STARTED AND FINISHED THAT GAME:
In college, as a quarterback for Maryland in 1984, Frank Reich had come off the bench to rally the Terrapins from a 31-0 halftime deficit to a 42-40 victory over defending national champion Miami. In today's AFC Wild Card Game, Reich goes a point better.

Reich is starting for the Buffalo Bills because Jim Kelly is injured...

Oh puhlease. Good players don't end up in the HOF. Great players do.

Kelly was one of the best field generals. He ran and called his own plays with a no huddle all the way to 4 sb's. Only Manning comes close to acheiving that.

Sure GOOD players can get into the HALL OF FAME. If Namath got in (and he was horrible), anyone can.

Kelly was hurt the week before against the Oilers, Reich started and finished the playoff game against the Oilers, along with the game the following week against the Steelers, Kelly came back for the Championship game against the Fins.

It s probably nothing to you young guys, but i have been watching some of the 80's games beween marino and kelly, and i gotta say that Kelly was some QB--yes he had a better O line at times than Dan, but even so this bloke was gutsy. I aint saying he was as good as Dan but all the same he is due a hell of a lot of a credit to what he has brought the game. I'm in full admiration for this guy----But Dan was better :)

- Lots of Respect for Kelly. That line was great at hol..I mean blocking , Thomas was possibly the best overall back of his time outside of Emmitt , great receivers and TE. But Kelly ran the show and won games for the Bills late with his smarts and his arm. He even started the spiking the ball into the ground to stop the clock in Miami on a comeback win. No one circles the drain like the Biffalo Bulls.
