Kelvin Benjamin

i don't like anything of what i've seen from benjamin. Hes slow, often looks disengaged, doesn't have great hands, doesn't catch the ball at its highest point, can get roughed up at the los even at 6'5. I don't see see how he gets open at the next level. If he wasn't 6'5 nobody would be interested but they see 6'5 and instantly think woah red zone target but he doesn't play up to his height.

This dude sounds like David Boston all over again…No thank you.

In 2004 David Boston was suspended for testing positive to steroids. His play deteriorated when he left Arizona Cardinals. In contrast Kelvin Benjamin is just naturally big. There is no suggestion whatsoever of Benjamin taking performance enhancing drugs and any indirect suggestion by Mr Day is totally inappropriate.

Here's the funny thing about people opinion on Benjamin is they look at him because he is listed as a WR. Now people think Ebron is great because he is listed as a TE. The funny thing is in the NFL they will probably play very similar roles. Ebron will not be an in-line TE much if at all and he will be in the slot, split wide and possibly in the backfield. Chances are Benjamin will be used the same way as he can create the same matchups. The lines of WR and TE have been blurred so much that in many situations they are one in the same.

I agree 100%. Kelvin Benjamin was described as being just a good cheeseburger away from being a TE. He's 6'5" and already 240 lbs. As he matures, he will probably get a lot bigger. With the success of big guys like Jimmy Graham in the red zone - the role has changed. Jimmy is even challenging the TE Franchise tagging saying that in over 70% of snaps he effectively plays as a WR and he should be free to let the market determine his value without the TE tag or be tagged as a WR.

Exactlly my point...so if Benjamin was listed as a TE where would he fall in this draft?

Neither does Ebron, or Jimmy Graham for that matter.[/QUOTE

If Ebron does happen to fall would you take him at 19. Do you have cocerns that his blocking ability will once again really hamper the run game or are you ok with that and expect the blocking will come from another TE etc.

I take him, I look at what he can open up for my offense and my running game. Tannehill needs a BIG red zone target, doesn't matter to me if they players is listed as a TE or a WR but he needs someone that can split the seam and be a big bodied target. Ebron, ASJ, Benjamin all do with the same type of game. Moncrief, Bryant, Jordan, and a few others do that more from outside the hashes, but I am more inclined to getting him a big target inside the hashes.

My feelings have long been a bit outside the box regarding adding a WR and improving the run game.

Id keep Wallace and find another speed WR, not just a guy with good speed, Im mean run by you Mike Wallace 2.0 speed.
The logic is simple and basic, if you have to defend 2 WR that can take the top of the defense it opens up both the run game and the short underneath routes for Hartline, Clay and Moreno.

I understand that there is a perception the phins need a big tall WR to help in the red zone, that would be a benefit however the effects would be more felt with adding another speed WR to force the defense to stay honest no eight or nine man boxes.

Just my two cents.

Didn't Benjamin mention on Path to the Draft that he would be mad if a team switched him to TE?

I didn't see, he may have, but like I said with some of these TE's those lines are so blurred they are gone.

ha ha i love the move benjamin to tight end stuff...guy plays wr with basically no physicality and you want to move that to tight end...good luck...although that will probably be a fall back if he never learns to use his hands to create separation at wr and use that big body to his advantage and his strength...

a last ditch effort kind of thing...

there's a big differnce also b/t ebron and jimmy graham and this kid...they are used to working around lbs and safeties benjamins used to working around corners...

like i said good luck

by the way if you are looking for more of a success story wr to tight end i'd say that the cameron kid for the browns is that...ran a lot of wr routes in college converted to tight end in the pros...but had better weight and worked more around lbs and safeties and not as much on the boundary in school...down the seam etc

the misses here outweigh the hits by a mile...needle in a hay stack type of stuff...this kid benjamin avoids contact
