Not to discount Eddie Lacy, but the key to a victory next week is holding Nelson and Cobb to minimal yards. Easier said than done, of course.

What's the best game plan for this? They aren't the kind of receivers that are going to overpower us with their size, but they are sure-handed, quick and precise route runners. When you combine that with a quarterback with pinpoint accuracy like Rogers, it can be lethal as what we saw last night.

With a (somewhat) stout run D such as ours, I presume they will resort to passing on most 2nd and 3rd downs, but if they can get the run going, the play action is going to kill us. That 66 yard bomb to Nelson last night is a fine example.

The key to this game for me will be our pass rush. If we can tear down that O Line and get Rodgers rattled, we will have a shot. If he's got time in the pocket he will pick us apart.

What are your thoughts on the best way to shut down A Rod?

Reshad Jones picked a fine time to come back. I hope he [plays.] can provide enough support in the run D and coverage to make Rodger's options limited. Jelani improving is a good sign, he can be a big factor in coverage.

The best way to stop GB passing? Pressure Rodgers. No QB likes getting hit, and after a few he speeds up his reads and throwaways. Pressure the QB to force mistakes, then take advantage of those mistakes.

Brady Poppinga, former NFL linebacker, had an interesting take on it.

Good read.
Ha ha...good read. I just mentioned a few days ago in South Beach's thread that if teams start stacking the box to stop the run against us and giving Tannehill single high safety looks, Tannehill needs to pull that trigger.

I don't know about 6 in the box though...guess you can do that when you have Fairley and Suh at DT not to mention Detroit's DE are bigger and more stout against the run than our DEs. We'll see what Coyle rolls out there next week but I don't know about just 6 in the box.

This is why I think the Lions will be a tougher game for us than GB or Chicago. Tough games ahead, but that Lions game looks ugly to me from out here. That DL is going to give us fits.

If the Fins play consistent discipline football they can win. They probably wont but we can dream. If they D line can get consistent pressure and Cortland and Grimes play lights out maybe. Will or Taylor or Jimmy will have to play well also. Rodgers is the best QB in the league.

The one good thing about this matchup is that the Packers Oline isn't as good as it's touted. They have a rookie C and the T's aren't anything to write home about. I expect the Fins D-line to be able to pressure Rodgers quite a bit with only a 4 man rush. If the Fins are able to get pressure with only 4 players I like our chances on defense. Especially with the return of Jones and Misi. They both could be instrumental in stopping Lacy who is a beast. I have no faith in Wilson or Trunsik meeting Lacy in the hole or open field and brining him down. I just hope that Starks' back allows him to play as having him in the DT rotation for this game will be huge.

Stop Lacey, score points when the opportunity arrives, win the turnover battle. Pressure Rodgers. Sounds simple , it's not but that's how you'll win.

Well, keep them off the field with a strong run attack. That will limit snaps and help. Strong pass rush like vs the pats to create unfavorable down and distance. Finish with solid play from our DBs. Same formula to stop any pass attack.

Coyle had no answers for Alex Smith and the "Now-benched" EJ Manuel.... You actually believe he will game plan to stop a future hall of fame QB in Rodgers?
