You guys are all offering sound logic, while I was just going for ridiculous sarcasm that could still, on some crazy level, be an accurate prediction of future events.
Reading about both Pioli and Mangini scares the hell out of me and this whole dialog makes me realize that this GM/coaching thing is a lot harder than I wanted to believe it was. There are many more failed coaches and GMs than successful ones. For every Bill Walsh, there's a million Marty Schottenheimers and worse. Much Worse. Rich Kotite worse.
I'd love to say that I know we can do better than what we have, but I can't.
There's hundreds of posts in these Finheaven threads with bulletproof logic for firing Ireland, Sherman, Pilbin, Coyle, etc.
bulletproof arguments about their exact successors are REAL hard to find.
