Kiper on Phins Trading Up

Only olineman I'd trade that far up for is jake Mathews...I'm not sure I'm buying Zach Martin to the giants at 12 either...they have a somewhat undersized right tackle in Pugh already and unless they are moving him to guard I can't see it...I don't buy Martin being drafted to play left tackle...no siree

I think the giants might trump Chicago for a dt...

I'm with ya. Pugh played pretty well in his first year, and strangely was the #19 pick.

I see a lot of cowboys at 16 Zach Martin landing spot...but I don't get that either they have a top left tackle in Tyron smith the right tackle played well this last season and I like the player anyways now that they got him playing where he should be I guess if they are taking him to play guard it's possible but I can think of a number of other positions of need much much more pressing in big d

You don't trade up and give away picks in the deepest draft i have seen in ages unless it's a can't miss All-Pro type talent.

I LOVE Zack Martin.......at guard.

I like Martin at right tackle, but not enough to move up and spend other picks that could/should end up being starters for us at need positions. There will be plenty of talent there at 19 to choose from, and i'm not sold that Martin won't be there.

I trade up if Matthews slips. He's elite and worth the move. If Lewan checks out ok off the field but still slips, i might consider a move if it's only a few spots and costs us a mid round pick.

Thing about Lewan is I'm not sure I like the fit on the right side...similar to jawaun James in that I think both these guys are left tackle pros...

I've heard lewans name mentioned in the top 6 even...that's too rich for me

I think I heard the same thing about trading up for Lane Johnson...ha ha if he was here we wouldn't be in this mess...and if you ask me we would have made the playoffs had we added a edge talent like that instead of the slugs we ran out there with...

jake Matthews who played the best right tackle I have ever seen in 2012 if the price is right I'd pay it for him...but for it to be right he'd have to get into the double digits...otherwise it's too pricey...he won't get there anyways...Atlanta if they stay put and can't get a top level edge rusher would run the card up

Can't see Matthews dropping to 10 or lower but, it is a very strange draft. QB's and trades could shake things up at the top. I could see Lewan, Ebron, Mosely, Pryor, etc dropping some, and moving up 4-5 spots would not break the bank.

I knw this draft is deep with good players but, I would like to get one guy who is REALLY good.

I don't think it's gonna be all that strange a draft unless it's about qbs...most these other teams won't trade out when they are staring position of need elite level talent In the face...the exception being St. Louis...I do believe they'd move out if the price is right...they should have a burning phone that's for sure...

I've seen where many have said that Lewan would have been the top OT in last year's draft. He is being held in very high regard.

Houston, Cleveland, and Minny are my QB questions, and who ever knows what Oakland will do. They can go QB early (good for us) or wait to make a move later in the first.

If a few teams move around in the top 10 spots or so, it could throw some teams off and make them consider other players. Hopefully one of our top choices fall to us, but I absolutely do not want us trading picks to move up to get a OL that isn't an elite LT (which we don't need now). Let's just sit at our current spot or talk to teams about moving down to get MORE picks, not less.

Agree on for a RT. Matthews would be different as a RT now but, increased value in being able to move to LT. What about moving up for another like an Ebron, WR, etc. As you had mentioned, there's around 10-12 players in the elite status.

Too much talent in this draft to move up for what Miami needs. Ebron would be the only one I would even consider, but I doubt I would.

I have zero doubt that Zack Martin is one of the top 10 players in this draft. All-pro guard.

From the little ive seen from Lewan, i dont like him. He's too big to get his hands on a player and not completely dominate them. He has huge arms and doesnt punch. He stands straight up and his feet don't keep up with his frame. Again, this is critique based on a ridiculously minimal amount of sample size.

What im noticing more and more often as the years pass is that size is trumping tape and even snaps. I really dont see why that is but im just a shmuck on a couch. Funny enough, that size thing is now reversed when it comes to the QB. Prototypical is giving way to playmaking. Its a new NFL.

The more I watch Martin, I see a quality OG and not terribly excited for him as an OT.

I like the versatile nature of his game, but I am not sure if he is going to be exceptional enough as OT…one that you move up for in the draft.
