Knowshon Moreno signs one year deal with Dolphins

Good signing and I like the one year prove it contract. His blocking and pass catching ability will be a nice asset but I still think we need a power , short yardage guy. Maybe in the draft :idk:

Miller would also check into pass routes when he should have stayed into protect at times and other times would just block the wrong guy. I don't care much for his technique, either, or his toughness. There's a reason the Dolphins brought in Daniel Thomas a lot on third down and drafted Gilislee precisely because he's such a good blocker. And there's a reason why Moreno was signed, because it isn't that Moreno is particularly elusive with the ball in his hands.

Agree but, when he did block, he was better than Moreno.

Old, oft injured, small. Glad we passed on him and didn't even have him come in. Nothing worse than wasting money on a RB who is on the downside of their career. But hey, this is why the Raiders will always be the Raiders.

Wait, this isn't possible.

I had it on good word from multiple Finheaven sources that Jason LaCanfora is always wrong.

Give it a damn rest. You know even a broken clock is right twice a day right???? His track record is terrible no matter how much you try to defend the guy.

Nailed it. Rest assured Peyton Manning is not thrilled right now about losing him, especially on 3rd downs.

Peyton Manning is not thrilled when anything changes. But Monte Ball is without doubt a more talented back, and he'll like having a guy that can actually break tackles. He just needs to stop fumbling. Blocking is about being smart enough to know what to do/recognize blitzes. And also just plain willingness (physical stature helps, but it's mostly about willingness).

Says you. I don't agree.

Monte's fumble issues are a major concern if the Broncos decide to make him lead back.

Guy shows up on game day with soap on his hands or something I swear....

I doubt it's that much. 3.5 would be more then any other runningback got this year. Since he's lasted this long in free agency, if we paid him over 2.5 then we prolly overpaid.
we should have just met in the middle and we would have been right on the money

Our screen game is gonna be dynomite this season, amongst other things.

Just gotta sure up a couple more positions on the offensive line with athletic and nimble guys and we should be good to go.

Hoping Lazor will dail those plays up.

This is what I was thinking. He was stellar in the screen game. A lot of that really is outstanding blocking and physicality from the Broncos receivers, which we lack, but I'm sure Lazor will add that wrinkle to the game. The Eagles ran quite a few bubble screens as well, so hopefully we integrate that a more.

I like what we have. Not in love, and not entirely comfortable with our weapons yet, but I like it. Wallace deep (if they can connect); Hartline with the intermediate; Clay with the versatility; hopefully Gibson in the slot with and red-zone if he comes back like Philbin hinted at; Mathews with his sporadic performances; Moreno and Miller in the backfield; and whoever we draft. That's not half bad. We have the talent, we just need to put it together with great blocking and dynamic play calling from Lazor.

Wait, are you seriously trying to defend JLC?

If that's the case, I guess I've been trolled.

Not at all. I've never taken up any kind of JLC cause in all my time here. Just noticed the relentless bashing going on with him lately and find this really funny. It's to the point where there are people who won't even credit him with breaking the original report. :chuckle:

I'm not saying Monte is not the better overall back, but there's a reason Knowshon was usually on the field on 3rd down.

Great signing, gives us a one year insurance policy in the backfield to protect the QB and share the workload. Help train in a rookie we will likely draft and then move on to that guy next year. Reasonable $$ and a "prove-it" incentive for Moreno. And by the way, didn't JLC say we were going to sign him for 3 years and about 4-6 mil a year ? If we trade away Wallace, then I'll sort of take the guy seriously, but I'm not giving him any credit for breaking news of a guy we pretty much knew was going to sign with us (just not the specifics).
