So with all this talk of us wanting a young developmental QB, does anyone wish Saban would have taken Kyle Orton (Chicagos starting QB) with our 4th round pick instead of Travis Daniels? As for CB we would have probably kept either Mario Edwards or Kris Richard

this thread comes up alot but think about it our corner situation is al ot worse then our qb and without daniels wed be in serious trouble

I would love to have Orton but we had to have Daniels.....If Daniels ends up being toast and Orton turns out to be great...then absolutely...That's why they play the games.

Daniels is starting because he really deserves it. While some feel that Orton deserves it, fact is that he wouldn't be starting without the injury to Rex. We can find our QB next year, but to get a starter at CB in the 4th round is a steal. I still back the Daniels selection.

You can also look like it as, who would you rather lose... Jay Fiedler or Patrick Surtain. Our QB situation has never been good after Marino yet we've still managed to have 9,10,11 win seasons. Travis Daniels has been a great surprise for us and I personally am not even 100% convinced that Kyle Orton is the best QB on Chicago's roster, our CB situation is definitely our worst situation right now I would say along with DT. I can't even imagine how much worse off we would be (not just now but in the future) if we had not drafted Travis Daniels and if he had not been the pleasant surprise that he so far has turned out to be. Gus Frerotte and AJ Feeley are not the future for this team, I just want the better man starting this year and for us to get a QB next year. Kyle Orton would struggle just as bad as either of them this if not worse, lets see if Gus could win us some games this year and I'd rather wait for the QB of the future to in next year's draft rather than having just settling on any QB in the previous draft which was a weak class. I'm not second guessing how we drafted and I feel confident in Travis Daniels and every other rookie we drafted. Maybe Kyle Orton is going to be good, but it's just preseason... I'm expecting him struggle his first game against Washington and than there wouldn't be any threads asking this question.

Daniels, because we will be hurting right now if we didn't have him. Plus, i think that Orton is overrated because everybody thinks that he will be a very good QB, but he has only played against 2nd and 3rd stringers. His real test will be this Sunday.

Chicago made a huge mistake cutting Chad Hutchinson; Hutch is the future of Miami Dolphins football...

I like Travis and what he has done so far in preseason. Isn't the question, could we have gotten him in the 5th and taken Orton in the 4th.

Yes the Alabi pick is the only somewhat questionable one. It would be nice if we could sign another rookie that was left off of his team due to intense competition. Gibson was a steal because he basically gave us 7 draft picks.

It's possible. But after the Giants took Webster in the second, Saban wasn't going to let Daniels get away. Daniels was projected as a early 5th rounder. But we all know how those projections work out.

He was projected as a legitimate 4th rounder by many. Webster wasn't a 2nd rounder though. He fell even more from his 1st round status than a 2nd round value. However, he's played well in N.Y. so far.
