L7's expert insider evaluation...

Dbo looks slow and small. (i guess a lack of steroids will do that to you).

 Are you serious? Small? Did you see his first screen pass he took for about 20 yds.? He looked pretty quick to me. just needs some playing time to get back to his old form.

I watched the game in its entirety last night and came away with a better picture of my hated rivals... here it goes

qb: Feeley is bad, Frerotte is decent, Sage and Brock did OK. Until Berlin threw that late pick I thought he be the new flavor of the wek around here... looked decent, if only against 4th string...this is gonna be a problem for you, as you know... you should try to trade for orton, he's gonna be decent.

rb: Sign Ronnie Brown. Gordon is mediocre, as are the other guys from last year. Ricky is a non factor, his head is somewhere else, he's not ready to play, and it dosn't even seem like he wants too... "Ricky, why did you come back?"... "Why...?....I don't know" enough said, he will be a surprise cut, Saban dosn't need that BS.

wr: Thought they may have been the best group of the night... bad QB play hurt them, but Chambers made a nice catch, Gilmore was decent, and with some more training and recovery DBo could be an above average Wr, although it looks like he's not as fast as he was.

te: Donald Lee sucks. Rm will be fine.

ol: not impressed. Carey ws getting beat, lots of pressure on the QB early. They have a ways to go as a whole.

dl: they were OK, not dominant... anyone but the bears could have moved the ball a little better... needs work.

lb: ZT was in on alot of tackles again, Crowder got the start, saw him in there a couple times on plays... he could be decent, but he's raw.

db: worst unit on the feild, your safties were leaving the middle wide open all day, and aside from Madison your corners are gonna get burned... Daniels was kinda slow off the ball , he can improve, but i don't think he's starter material yet...leaving Howard who you will probably all hate and will have many threads saying so...

Young Guys: Roth (like i've been saying) has a ways to go, not the fastest guy around, and he used his only move, the bull rush, exclusivly, and was eaten up by blockers. It looked like he got his Bell rung early in the game. Manny Wright...what can I say...he looked like a fifth round supplemental pick, no big plays, no stamina... the ball would be snapped and he would just dance there, not making any effort at a pass rush... he's a long term project, no immediate help. Crowder will be the best of this bunch if he stays healthy, i imagine he'll supplant seau in the lineup sooner than later. Daniels needs work too, but its early, should probably be a 3rd Cb now, but what other oprions do you have?

Well Finfans, feedback... what did I miss. Honestly, it wasn't a very impressive game (except Orton) I know there is plenty of time for improvement, but i think there is alot of work that needs to be done on both lines and the defensive secondary. Saban was intense, he was getting alot of props... can he produce?

a fairly honest observation...i don't think feeley is that bad like you say...he was only in for 2 series i believe...than he got hurt in his 3rd and came out...he has a very strong arm...that pass to D.T. was on the money...it went right through his hands...that should have been a catch...no doubt...

what i did notice is that he holds on to the ball too long at times...that's why the o-line looked bad at times when he was in...

gus had better rythm last night...that could very well be because he know the offense better...i'll admit...gus moved the ball better and got rid of it faster...

feeley has time to improve...i hope.

Go Fins!!!

In an NFL pre-season game, everything is so deceiving.

Saban was not going to show the NFL one bit of his actual defense or offense, so it's no use judging it. The only thing to take out of them is individual performances but even that is hard to do. The games are meaningless. I think Miami will be a lot better than this game showed. A team's pre-season record is useless, you can go 0-4 and be 12-4 in the regular season.

While your analysis isn't bad, it's hard to actually base any judgments off these games.

The things I saw aren't gonna be fixed by september.

I think the guy attacking you was off base, but I think it is early to say that the things you saw won't be fixed by September. There is a lot to do, but there is still a lot of time to do it in.

what did he look like when he first came in to the NFL? and when he was at his greatest? he was FREAKIN HUGE. compared to that, he is small. hes not skinny by any means, but still smaller than he has been in the past. and he didnt look as fast as he used to be eather.

Some things will be... but I don't think the Dolphins will be the team they can be by week one...

Its entirely new scheme, its new players, its new attitude... things that can't be learned in TC or preseason, but when they have a come from behind victory, or a goaline stand to preserve a win...

Feeley or Frerotte need to step up to start the transistion, or the transistion is gonna be next year with a new QB...

One glaring positive is how much Saban wanted the game, he wanted to win it even though it was preseason... it didn't work, but it was close.

Maybe I forgot how be he used to be, but he was still obviously bigger than the other wrs. I think he's gonna be huge in our passing game.

I wish some of these Jills, and Jets could follow your example..I hate them just as much as they hate us..It's a damn Pre-season game..I can't remeber the last time we ever came out looking good in the first pre-season game..Now, to some, the sky is already falling..

Good synopsis there Los. I agree with all your points.

This is really showing the intelligence of Bills Fans......they are quick to judge a team on one preseason game!! Most intelligent football fans know that it is impossible to take anything solid from the first game......coaches just want to see if the team competes and then they don't want anyone getting hurt! Go back to your own site! We will be sure to come over and critique every negative part of your opening preseason game too....wait a minute, I can't do it because it means nothing!!
quit your crying will ya. No one is judging your season based on 1 preseason game. He was making his observation of that 1 preseason game. There are harsher things said about your team by finfans compared to what was said here. :shakeno:

I wasn't watching schemes, or play calling for the most part...

If this was a veteren team that had been playing together for year I'd agree with you.

But what does a scheme have to do with Carey missing blocks, Roth playing a one dimensional game, or Manny Wright not hustling?

There is plenty you can learn from preseason, and while the Fins didn't plays great, they at least got experiance.

you are right...your observation was pretty fair...the only thing i didn't agree with was feeley...look at my first reply above...anyway...you should have know that some peps here would have taken it to heart.

No one said the sky is falling, it fell last season...

I watched a game, and I wrote what i saw... i didn't say Sabans scheme looked flawed, or anything like that... I know the coach isn't gonna throw the whole gamepolan into the 1st preseason game... but when they play these games its an oppourtunity to see young guys play in basic formations... and we learned alot about who can make an impact... and we'll learn more as the year goes on...

example, david boston... I would be encouraged if I were a finfan, he can be a playmaker, maybe with less speed than he had, but his power was evident, and he'll probably get more of a burst back.

I hate Feeley, so its hard for me to see him in a good light... my best friend is a FinFan (ironic huh) and he was pro Frerotte from the get go...

Bottom line, if you honestly think Feeley is a long term answer at QB, then you'll support him, but if you feel like you'll need a "QB of the future" next year, Frerotte gives you the best chance to win THIS year.
