La Canfora: Dolphins exploring Dion Jordan, Mike Wallace and Cameron Wake trade

FWIW, Jordan would cost WAY TOO much to trade. However, I can see a far fetched situation where Miami could trade up for a stud LT. This would be a trade off on signing one in FA. Again, it is far fetched at best.

However, Jordan is a JT type of player, who based on cover and pass rush, should be in some type of a 3-4. Coaches wanted him but, if you add 20 pounds to make him a DE, I think you are destroying his talent and value.

Coyle should wake up and deal with what he has to work with. JMO

Agreed, Miami would take a cap hit of $16.4m to trade him this year. If he's on the team he only counts as $4.6m against the cap.

This is BS. Jordan isn't going anywhere.

Just before last years draft Ross told the coaching staff everything was on the table. The coaching staff unanimously decided to move up and draft Jordan. This wasn't just a Ireland move. No way the entire coaching staff gives up on Jordan unless the kid is a crackhead.

But I can see Wallace getting traded...

Regardless of whether or not the report is true, this is the problem I have with having guys like Philbin and Hickey, who are basically on one year deals, making these types of decisions. I don't want someone who may be gone next year, making decisions that could have a huge impact on the team for years to come.

I swear I could do his job...

"This just in, my sources close to a football team told me that somebody will be traded in the NFL *lists random players from roster*...more to come... retweet.."

I wonder if this is just La Canfora trying to negatively spin something on the Dolphins that every team does. I remember when Parcells was here that the theme during the offseason is that "Everyone is available for the right price". I wonder if teams are asking if Jordan, Wake and Wallace are available and the team is just telling them yes for the right price. Then La Canfora just reports it as the team looking to unload them which is probably not the case.

I can't see Jordan or Wake going for anything less than a 1st round pick. Wallace probably wouldn't fetch more than a 2nd round pick with his high salary.

I still can't buy the Dolphins trading these three away this offseason.

I use to love the football season and dread the offseason.
Sadly, it's starting to be the other way around.

that's false. If they cut him they would be on the hook, but trading him is drastically less $$

OK, thanks, maybe that changed with the new CBA as it used to be the original team had to eat the bonus money...thanks for the article.

That's pretty much what Pat Kirwin just said. A GM may have called and asked who is available on the team and Hickey may have relied anyone for the right price.

Its a deep draft, but these moves would only make sense if you get exceptional value, especially for a young player like Jordan.
You dont want to be the brunt of jokes in3-5 yrs if he develops into an elite pass rusher and all you got was a 2nd rounder for him. It's a risky proposition to trade such a young player who is an unfinished product unless the coaching staff is convinced he cant play at this level and want to salvage something before the rest of the league figures it out. Shula did that with Randall Hill in the early 90's and got Arizona's 1st rd pick, which ended up being 8th overall. Troy Vincent was the pick.

Now Kirwin is saying that the old club does eat the bonus which was my understanding.

La Canfora always seems to make a jaw dropping report about Miami on a Friday afternoon, upsets Dolfans, then slithers away for the weekend

This.

****, I'm sure if we call up the Packers and offer first round picks for the next 10 years Rodgers will be in a Fins uniform tomorrow.

The original team still has to eat the bonus money.

The reason why we would get relief from a Wallace trade is because the bonus money that we would eat would be offset (and then some) by the annual salary we would save.

Mike Hunt @InsideMikeHunt 3m Spoke to sources around the league. Expect Jordan to be exchanged for a mid-round pick by the end of this week.

Mid-round pick?

You don't trade your #3 pick for some 3rd rounder.

Either this is just all fluff for attention, or Hickey is a idiot.

lol, everyone might want to read that username out loud
