La Canfora: Dolphins exploring Dion Jordan, Mike Wallace and Cameron Wake trade

Same here, and posted a link explaining that the paying of the signing bonus is not paid in full at signing but, pro-rated, which I did not know. That was what raised the question.

I missed that link, but is it reliable? I thought the whole point of the signing bonus was that it was paid upfront. I mean, if you see the contract pages at overthecap there are columns for roster bonus, workout bonus, and even other bonus, all of which are delayed payments, but the prorated bonus, as far as I know, is a one-time payment that is divided by the length of the contract for accounting. And viceversa, if it's not prorated, then it isn't paid at once, but at different times: hence the roster bonus, workout bonus, etc. The whole idea behind cap trouble is that prorated bonus cannot be eliminated from the books at all, only accelerated.

To push the point further, if it were possible to do this teams would use it, if not often, then at least sometimes, sending veterans at bargain prices, or why not, veterans plus picks in return for lesser picks and eliminating prorated money from the books. The fact that we haven't ever heard of this thing being done to me is proof enough that it cannot be done at all.

It's crazy that most of this fanbase don't think this team is a joke. When sports are discussed, the Marlins and Dolphins are usually the butts of the jokes in South Florida. The Heat are usually the only team in town worth mentioning and having any kind of pride/winning culture. This team has been mediocre for decades and people dislike when I call them a joke. Please take off your goggles and see this current team for what they are, not what they once were.

Well that may be your opinion but that is not shared by everybody. No matter how many times you say it even if it is not true.

Instead of getting rid of our talented players that our inept coaching staff doesn't get the most out of, why don't we just get rid of our inept coaching staff.

Andrew Abramson is now doing an about face and is reporting that the Dolphins have at least talked about trading Jordan.

yeah, it goes something like this to the Philly Eagles....

So you will give us this years #1 and and what else? oh nothing else? ok, have a nice day.

He just makes stuff up. I refuse to listen to anything he has to say. One of the joys of having a mute button or volume control.

I'd trade Wake in a minute to protect Ryan Tannehill and that's all I'd trade him for. I do remember broaching this very subject awhile ago. I was roasted for bringing up trading Wake. Let me go now and read your responses to see if we have any flip floppers here.

Then please, choose another team and go talk in their forum. This is a site for Dolphins fans.

Oliver Vernon's sacks were more of him working extra hard for it then him actually having elite pass rushing skill..

He's no Wake

Soooooooo working hard doesn't count?lol. If he's getting sacks, who cares how he gets them? That was a dumb comment.

How do you all know we wouldn't get an even trade of talent for Wake? You all are just saying that like it's gospel and none of you know. Give me a 1st round pick for Wake, I'm good.

It doesn't make any difference. It's not happening. Especially Jordan or Wake. Wallace is the only one that could conceivably make sense cap-wise, and not much at that. What's infuriating is that that jackass JLC published his news without doing even the most basic background check into the players' contracts. Otherwise he would have know what a bloody brainless story he was running.

(Why not Wake? His cap number is about 7 million. Did you see how much the Panthers are going to pay Hardy? Wake is a bargain and it would make no sense at all to trade him).

His cap number makes it easy for him to be traded. It does work both ways. He is cheap for us and that's a good reason to keep him. He is cheap and would make him look a lot better to other teams because of his reasonable contract. Makes a lot of sense. A LOT.

Anything that JLC says is usually bull****.

OK, now back up your words.
