La Canfora: Ochocinco wants to join Dolphins/Will work out this week for Miami

Bare Minimum just isn't even worth it to me, if he comes in and legitimately beats out his competition then why not. But even if he did I wouldn't understand it unless we were in a "WIN NOW" type of mindset. We are a rebuilding team...not one looking for that missing 3rd WO to break the championship point.

I'd rather take the time and money spent on these players to build up the future team, not one that is heading out the door. We have a lot of young talent to develop and and rather it be utilized than take away valuable game experience.

Chad is the epitome of DIVA. Cmon, he is an attention WHORE that is all about Chad first, and whatever else second....oh wait, his name isn't Chad anymore........did he officially change it on his diva-syndicated reality show? I don't remember...and to be honest, never really cared enough to try to keep up.

He had 2 pretty good years in Cincy, and those days are way way way behind him.

I'm sure the Phins will indeed bring him into camp for a look...and his entire enterage will be there....and I doubt he makes it to the regular season.

I think you're painting Chad Johnson (I refuse to call him OchoCinco) with the wrong brush, seriously. By definition, a Diva is a Prima Donna, and a Prima Donna is: "a vain or undisciplined person who finds it difficult to work under direction or as part of a team". That is not, nor has ever been Chad Johnson. He's not T.O. calling out his teammates, or causing trouble in the locker room. He's not Brandon Marshall punting the ball in practice because he wants a new contract, or going half speed because he only has 1 reception for 12 yards. Those guys are Prima Donnas. Chad has said on numerous occassions, that the NFL is meant to entertain the fans, and that's all his antics are about, simply entertainment. I've never heard that Chad was a bad teammate. To the contrary, I've read that he is a great teammate and hard worker. He's one of the most well liked players in the NFL. He takes fans out to dinner, never gets in trouble. I don't see where these comparisons come from.

People seem to want to compare him to these other cancers because he's known for his antics. But those antics (which he's been fined for several times) are for entertainment and doesn't hurt a soul, much less the team.

Also, you mentioned he's had 2 good seasons. Do you realize he's a 6 time pro bowler? Holds virtually all the Bengals receiving records? and outside of his rookie season, has only had 2 seasons (both plagued by injuries) with the Bengals that he didn't eclipse 1,000 yards? Has even led the NFL in receiving yards a few times. Let's not pretend he's chopped liver because he struggled in New England last year.

I personally would like the Dolphins to sign him to see what he can bring to the table, which I'm sure is more than Marlon Moore can. These young receivers will only benefit from someone of Johnson's experience and ability. Besides we could use someone as exciting as him on the team. He just needs to change his name back to "Johnson" for christ's sake.

Chad doesn't have an "entourage", nor did he only have TWO good seasons. He led the league in yards for 2 years. He's more often than not a 1000+ yard receiver. He's a playmaker in his right element. He's a technician at the WR position, and it seems that he has difficulty adjusting to a new offense in regards to the playbook. He completely understands routes, cuts, breaks, and hip movement.

You're trying really, really hard just to discredit the guy because you have an obvious bias against him. Also, you have this weird notion that Joe Philbin would bring in Chad Johnson simply to improve ratings on Hard Knocks. What reason does he have to do this? They don't give him a bonus for high ratings. They don't get more fans because Ocho is funny. Its simple an ignorant statement made without any research, which is what you've been saying the whole time.

I don't mean to be insulting but please just do the research. Its very easy and it would stop the cycle of false information being spread.

I'm all for Chad coming here, hell he's a Dolfan.

But i really don't think he has much in the tank at this point. Some of you thinking he'd come here and be a " Number One WR " have not watched him play much the past few years. Odds are last year was his last year in the nfl and if he does play here.... odds are he'll put up at best 300 - 500 yards and that's it.

I believe since he has been in the league 12 years, the minimum for him would be $925,000 for one year.

To me, if there is a free agent diva WR you are going to take a chance on, it would be Ochocinco. The guy is not a Brandon Marshall type player who fights his quarterback and gets in off the field incidents, two of which were attempts to murder him. He is not Plaxico out carrying a gun in public and spending time in jail. He is not like Owens who would destroy the mentality of the locker room. Ochocinco can be a pain, but more like a Channing Crowder mouth than any of those other guys.

A one year deal for Ochocinco with no guarantees of money if he doesn't make the 53? Why not?

Ochocinco is a mouthy time worth the risk. He is not a locker cancer deal. Just a guy having fun and with a witty sense of humor. Yeah he is hey look at me type. But all teams needs a character or two. For a league minimum he is worth it.

If they sign him, can they cut Naanee then? Naanee is just taking up a roster spot, he's not making the team as it is.

I don't see the problem with it, especially for the vet minimum.

I think if a team signs Chad, he is going to want a guaranteed contract - meaning if he doesnt make the team, he still gets paid. While we have the option of cutting him if he cant pick up the playbook, its going to cost us no matter what. And it wont be for the vet minimum. If Ochocino sihns with the Fins, he will be on the opening day roster, which make me cringe.

For one year with no real guarantees, why not?

Besides, the Dolphins (or whoever else signs him) could possibly be his last shot in the NFL.

I seriously doubt he would sign a contract without guarantees. Wishful thinking, but its not realistic.
