La Confara: Nolan Carroll to hit free agent market

We have not done a good job extending impending free agents and now we could see prices jacked up for guys we'd like to keep. I don't want a whole new cast of characters.

If Miami would have kept Dansby, Bush, Long and Burnett (not a stretch), this is a playoff team in 2013, period. Miami left $18 M on the table of cap space. Not to mention it would have been simply cheaper to go with the old linebacker corps, with better results.

We have to get out of the habit of losing a bunch of guys which then offsets the addition of new talent, at net neutral, every year. Keep your core guys you have developed. Build your nucleus, then add to it. Over time, you'll be good.

Carroll is whatever.... Wouldn't care if he signed back or left. He doesn't have much of a ceiling. That being said, i'd send him a very cheap 1 year prove it contract.

To be honest, why? Most are mediocre outside of the DT's and Grimes.

I think this means Patterson is staying, which is fine by me. Jamar Taylor can move into the 3rd CB spot, but not necessarily the nickle position.

Carroll had a decent year and deserves a lot of praise for his improvement. I'd welcome him back, but I feel much like with Chris Clemmons, somebody is going to offer him a bigger deal than I'd be willing to give him

Let him walk. The amount of times he's been absolutely garbage outweighs the little good he has done.
It's time to let the young guys take that position.

I liked how Carrol played last season, as he was horrid his first few seasons. I wouldnt mind him back, but that means we must cut Patterson. I want Taylor and Davis to play more, we cant continue to waste draft picks on kids who barely play and then go off to another team to become great players!
