Laconfara: Starks close to returning to fins

You need three quality DT's in the NFL nowadays.

I'm a little surprised Starks is staying TBH. Perhaps it was more a reflection of Ireland than the team itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hickey let Starks ascertain this worth through the market, and Hickey is merely matching the interest.

Either way I'm thrilled he's staying.

I really liked Soliai, but liked Starks much much more.

That would be fantastic news if accurate.. based on his athleticism and versatility, he's the one I preferred retaining

if this happens, this would be my favorite begining of FA since the Dansby/ Marshall year

It is Jason La Canfora, so we will see if this really happens.

Would be a good re-signing and would keep the defenasive line strong. Have to wonder though if this has any impact on Earl Mitchell's visit and expected signing last night. Would Starks come back and Mitchell sign? Or is it one or the other?

I thought of that also. Horrible when that is the first thought that comes to mind isn’t it. Actually the first thought was wow surprising.

I only liked Soliai because I thought he would want be in Miami. Starks is the better player.

I'm happy that Starks is returning, but does anyone else think that $6 million a year is a lot for him considering he's part of a 3 DT rotation?

I think they both wanted to stay, but with the switch away from the 3-4, and Coyle's scheme needing interior pass rushers, Soliai's value for us went way down

Nope. I think it is fair...very fair for an outstanding DT and IMO the best DT on the market currently.

I thought there was zero chance of Starks returning.

I am not marking things down with this because it is a JLC article.

When we let McDaniel walk it hurt our D line, i'm glad we're keeping that 3rd man this time.

Surprising....hopefully it is for 3 to 4 years....looks like the Dolphins want to penetrate upfront.

Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley 9s

Regarding the potential Randy Starks deal, I'm hearing that $6M a year is way too ambitious. Will come in below that.

And I thought 6 was good value!
