Lamar Gordon's trade value.

Thats true. But it still speaks volumes about Gordon's worth... imo

Agreed. I don't have any expectations of getting a 2nd for Gordon :D But I do think a 5th or 6th is possible.

Saban may keep him around for the 1st 4 weeks somply because Ricky won't be able to play. If someone really wants him, I don't know if they can risk not sending a pick for him. I could see the Eagles giving up a #5. And there is the potential to package Thompson with him for a better pick.

Even w/ Ricky out for 4 games, if no one gets hurt we'll have the following at RB:

Ronnie Brown
Sammie Morris
Travis Minor

I can't see him playing much for us if at all when he hardly comes off the bench in PS. Plus, I believe he's getting quite a bit of money and Saban likely won't keep a 4th stringer (5th stinger when Ricky's back) around for all the money he's making.

Those are the guys I think Saban will keep too. But it's not for sure. I still think there is a possibility Gordon will be kept around until Ricky come back. Unless I'm wrong and Ricky still counts against the roster limit while he is suspended.

if i was a team looking for a RB, i would contact the ravens to see if chestor taylor or musa smith were available.

Look at recent trade history:

A couple days ago, the Browns traded WR Andre Davis (who in 3 years caught 93 passes for 1412 and 13 TD's) to the Patriots for a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. If you ask me, Gordon has accomplished less than Davis which would lead me to believe wouldn't net us more than a 7th round pick.

The Edge and Sean Alexander were available this year for a 2nd pick. No one wanted them and they're much better than Gordon. We'll be lucky to get anything for him!:shakeno:

This is no offense to you but I hate this argument, the biggest inhibiter in the Edge and Alexanders case is they were available due to the amount of money they were asking for. The same reason Surtains value was a 2nd, Gordon isnt in the same boat so I think a conditional pick is well within the realm of possibility.

In order to have trade value, you have to show something. With Ricky's absence and Ronnie's holdout, Lamar had a chance to at least get noticed... he didn't.

I think that teams would be more interested in Sammy Morris, which would leave us with Minor as the third RB/"ST player". Gordon will be traded for a low pick or cut. We just don't have the need for him, really.
