I believe Reggie Bush has around 940 rushing yards and our Lamar Miller has around 630 rushing yards, can Lamar Miller get 1,000 yards this season, would we have been a better team with Reggie Bush, if we found a way to resign him?

I'm sort of indifferent. I think a lot of faith was put into Miller. Maybe too much. But there is no question that RB and OL are areas that need to be improved this off season.

miller will be fine. lions have a lot more weapons around bush to take a lot of heat off the him and the running game. we are still patching up the line. miller is big and fast and still needs to learn. how many years did it take reggie to finally get it?

They are not identical players and there was room and need for both, IMO. We have 6 games with fewer than 20 rushes and lost 4 of them. With Reggie demanding his share of carries I seriously doubt we have that many games in which we stupidly abandoned the run.

This is a polarizing topic. Anybody who wanted Reggie gone will desperately link his absence to our winning streak and playoff hopes. That's the way these things work.

I thought it was a bit amusing the other night when that 61 yard field goal dropped good, knowing that so many posters here wanted to rejoice that Reggie's team was now not likely to make the playoffs, other than the little matter that the Ravens win hurt our cause.

I would have liked to keep him. He's a smart veteran and was a hard worker for the Dolphins. I'm not sure he would have been much more productive than Miller, but I believe the offense could have used his leadership.

If you're going to use him strictly as a running back he wasn't good value, if you're going to use him both as a runner and receiving weapon he was great value.

This hinges a lot on the OL.

Once Miller breaks through the DL, he usually makes big plays. And like Regg, Miller has good speed. He's also more nimble than Regg.

Two different RBs obviously.

On a side note, at this time, Miller cannot block effectively enough. Reggie was average.

It's easy to look back and answer that now seeing those stats and the play, but last year when we saw glimpses of a breakaway runner in Miller (with a lot better O-line starting unit may I add) there was no way you re-sign an often injured guy like Bush to that contract..

Just the thought that the kid came in his 2nd year and almost put up 1,000 yards with that disgrace of an o-line is enough to keep me happy about his future. He's a swift guy that can take it to the house with just a hole to run through and he will never be the guy to break 3 tackles at the line.. Watching how Ireland drafts I think he will take a bruiser 3rd down type back in the mid rounds, which would be perfect because we need a little lightning and thunder to get the running game rolling full throttle, but that's just imo.

Now, if we fix the line and he still can't make a play then there's a problem.. I doubt it though because kid has 'take it to the house' talent.

Just like Tannehill, Miller has to be graded when we get good run blocking.

Should have resigned him - he's a playmaker

Sure he danced around sometimes and lost yards but he also does things we're not capable of doing

behind this line? Reggie would already be out for the year. theres too many factors to compare the 2 players based upon their stats in completely different situations. Bush also has Megatron to draw a ton of attention away. IMO Reggie dances way too much and behind our line he wouldnt be a factor, Miller is more north and south

In a word. Hell Yes we messed up! The mistake was drafting Daniel Thomas.

Maybe that's one reason why he's gone, he was outspoken and a veteran. Folks like Lamar Miller are more likely to feel happy they're even in the NFL and don't have the same clout to be as demanding. You make a great point that he would be unhappy with the number of carries. See how that worked with Wallace complaining about not getting the ball and then he suddenly became part of the gameplan and we won the next game? Not saying ever game he's going to be the go-to guy, but Wallace was concerned, fans were concerned, and he started making noise long before the losses started piling up. The coaches made more of an effort to involve him, and work on it, and I think we're a better team because of it.

As far as the question of retaining Bush, yes, imo of course it would have been good to retain him. Miller is unproven, and so far, not an upgrade.
