Lamar Miller vs Reggie Bush - did we make a mistake...?

The RB's block, too. Miller has struggled with that.

In the offseason, Miller needs to watch the blitz pickup technique of some of the smaller backs. They have to have perfect technique to get the leverage required to block effectively. Sometimes that means being more aggressive and delivering a blow rather than absorbing one. I notice Darren Sproles does this when he is called on to block. He usually gets just enough momentum into the blitzer to throw him off stride and buy Brees that extra 1.5 seconds needed to deliver the ball.

I really wanted Reggie back. Miller underperformed this year. Most of that you can blame on the OL, but at the same time, he has shown an inability to fight for yardage.

Miller isn't bad good as Reggie, but if we had Reggie receiving out of the backfield, would we have seen how good CC can be? Maybe not. For that much, it's worth not having him here. I think we need to address the RB position in the draft/FA.

some of Miller's issues are people overrating him cause he went to Da U. Miller has his own issues he needs to work on (not great as a receiver out of the backfield, goes down easy, doesn't pick up late blitzes) but for a guy who splits carries on a team that doesn't run a lot he hasn't been terrible.

As for Reggie, would have liked to have kept him around, but it is what it is. I don't think we miss him as much in the running game as in the pass game. There have been a few pass plays this year that were either stopped easily or the RB didn't catch that I think Reggie would have made plays with.

You don't give Bush (who is always injured) a multi-year deal when he is approaching 30 years old. Short-term is he a better player...YES. But that's how you get in "cap hell". Overpaying for always injured older players. Plus, with Miami's o-line Bush would have similar numbers to Miller this year. NOBODY....not Jim friggin Brown in his prime would have good numbers behind Miami's o-line

Actually Miller hasn't this year. That was last year. He has been a great blocker this year. Grades out high in that area each week

I'd say I would rather have Reggie this year. We may have won a game or two more.

But Lamar needed a full season to play at game speed regularly. So, I hope by next year he can apply the experience to better his game.
Also, I believe Philbin wanted to get rid of the old player council, and he was a part of that.

I wished we could have kept Bush. Curious how he'd do behind our line.

I'm in the group that wishes the Phins kept Bush. He would've been an added threat in the backfield and downfield with Wallace aboard.

I would have liked to keep him. He's a smart veteran and was a hard worker for the Dolphins. I'm not sure he would have been much more productive than Miller, but I believe the offense could have used his leadership.

I am glad he is gone. We needed Miller and Thomas to grow for the long term value to the organization.

The difference between Bush and Miller wasn't going to be worth the difference in contracts. It looks like RB will be a need going into the offseason simply because this team hasn't learned to trust him (and when did a GB staff learned to trust a RB not named Ahman Green), but seeing as we made pretty much zero effort to retain Bush, it's obvious that they didn't trust him either. That's a bad guy to have on the roster when he is a star in his own mind.

We have games where we ran the ball under 10 times you guys think Bush would of done better? The outcome with Bush or the guys we have now would still be the same.

Neither Miller nor Thomas has done a great job pass blocking consistently. Occasionally Thomas does a good job, but that's not consistent.
