The Oracle
First off, I agree with you about Bush. The guy is a damn good receiving RB.
Bush was drafted 2nd overall in the '06 draft.
The first WR off the board that year was Santonio Holmes to the Steelers w/ the 25th pick overall.
I know different positions, different routes, etc, etc. But I find this very interesting....
Bush has 337 career receptions @ a total of 2,438 yds (7.2 avg)
Santonio has 338 career receptions @ a total of 5,235 yds (15.5 avg)
I know the total yards is a big difference. But to have the same amount of receptions as a legit WR. Just goes to show how Bush is multi-dimensional and can be utilized in many ways.
Sprinkle in Bush's 3,176 career rushing yards (plus 2,438 receiving yards & 772 return yards) and you're looking at 6,000 + all purpose yds.
Now as for the Fasano bashing, you're either blind, insane, or a Notre Dame hater.... he may not be as fast as Jimmy Graham or Vernon Davis. But the guy is one helluva blocking TE and one of the better 'well rounded' TE's.
Only the Giants Jake Ballard (15.9), Titans Jared Cook (15.5), Pats Rob Gronkowski (14.7), were the only starters that had a better Average Yards Per Catch in the NFL for TE's. Fasano averaged 14.1.
Fasano's 5 touchdowns last year was 1 less than Jimmy Graham (6) and Vernon Davis (6)
Anythony matched the touchdown total for other TE's like Dustin Keller, Gregg Olsen, Brandon Pettigrew & Jason Witten.
Fasano only had 32 receptions, but 12 of those went for 20+ yards (which is good enough to be 9th in the NFL for TE's in 2011)
25 of his 32 receptions were for 1st downs. So you know he moves the chains.
Fasano was the 3rd best TE for 1st down %, converting 78.1% of his receptions for 1st downs. Only behind Jake Ballard and Jermichael Finley.
He may not be the fastest, but he has been one of our most consistent recieving threats for the past couple seasons, not to mention he is a GREAT blocking TE. Unlike our newly drafted TE who couldn't block my 3 year old cousin Sally. (Not to mention to be a TE in the NFL blocking is sort of a prerequisite.)
Plus I hear many people talk about Fasano and fumbles.... His first season was '06.
'06 = 0 fumbles
'07 = 0 fumbles
'08 = 0 fumbles
'09 = 2 fumbles
'10 = 0 fumbles
'11 = 0 fumbles
Unless he does Philbins daughter, he probably will still be a dolphin next season.
And last year he only had one drop.
I hate to say to other fans that they don't understand football but anyone that does not see that Fasano is a very good TE does not understand football.
