Lamar Miller's Role

First off, I agree with you about Bush. The guy is a damn good receiving RB.

Bush was drafted 2nd overall in the '06 draft.
The first WR off the board that year was Santonio Holmes to the Steelers w/ the 25th pick overall.
I know different positions, different routes, etc, etc. But I find this very interesting....

Bush has 337 career receptions @ a total of 2,438 yds (7.2 avg)
Santonio has 338 career receptions @ a total of 5,235 yds (15.5 avg)

I know the total yards is a big difference. But to have the same amount of receptions as a legit WR. Just goes to show how Bush is multi-dimensional and can be utilized in many ways.

Sprinkle in Bush's 3,176 career rushing yards (plus 2,438 receiving yards & 772 return yards) and you're looking at 6,000 + all purpose yds.

Now as for the Fasano bashing, you're either blind, insane, or a Notre Dame hater.... he may not be as fast as Jimmy Graham or Vernon Davis. But the guy is one helluva blocking TE and one of the better 'well rounded' TE's.

Only the Giants Jake Ballard (15.9), Titans Jared Cook (15.5), Pats Rob Gronkowski (14.7), were the only starters that had a better Average Yards Per Catch in the NFL for TE's. Fasano averaged 14.1.

Fasano's 5 touchdowns last year was 1 less than Jimmy Graham (6) and Vernon Davis (6)
Anythony matched the touchdown total for other TE's like Dustin Keller, Gregg Olsen, Brandon Pettigrew & Jason Witten.

Fasano only had 32 receptions, but 12 of those went for 20+ yards (which is good enough to be 9th in the NFL for TE's in 2011)
25 of his 32 receptions were for 1st downs. So you know he moves the chains.
Fasano was the 3rd best TE for 1st down %, converting 78.1% of his receptions for 1st downs. Only behind Jake Ballard and Jermichael Finley.

He may not be the fastest, but he has been one of our most consistent recieving threats for the past couple seasons, not to mention he is a GREAT blocking TE. Unlike our newly drafted TE who couldn't block my 3 year old cousin Sally. (Not to mention to be a TE in the NFL blocking is sort of a prerequisite.)

Plus I hear many people talk about Fasano and fumbles.... His first season was '06.
'06 = 0 fumbles
'07 = 0 fumbles
'08 = 0 fumbles
'09 = 2 fumbles
'10 = 0 fumbles
'11 = 0 fumbles

Unless he does Philbins daughter, he probably will still be a dolphin next season.

And last year he only had one drop.

I hate to say to other fans that they don't understand football but anyone that does not see that Fasano is a very good TE does not understand football.

The Atlanta game a few years back he fumbled twice I think. Since then he's been pretty good though this has zero to do with the original post.

COP back huh? 5-11 212 before he gets in the weight room. Try #1 RB as soon as he gets up to speed.

L. McCoy is 5-11 208. Is he a COP back?
Chris Johnson is 20 lbs lighter.

Out here in Denver Alfred Williams on the afternoon radio show was banging the table for the Broncos to take this guy with their round one pick. I COULD NOT BELIEVE

Hands down one of the most exciting players in draft we got on the cheap!

i think in 2012 his primary role is Reggie Bush insurance. Game plan with Bush, Miller steps up if Bush can't go. Bush walks in 2013, and Miami gets a 3rd or 4th round comp pick assuming Ireland plays FA right.

Amazing how a thread about Lamar Miller turns into a Fasano bash fest. Way to stay on topic Finheaven.

hopefully there is no Comp pick in 2013 for miller.. meaning miller actually would fill the hole bush left.

I'd like to see both Miller and Bush on the field at the same time in certain spots. One of them as a WR (Bush is probably the best WR on the team and has a season of around 90 receptions under his belt), with the other lined up as a RB

Miller is actually a very good pass catcher but just wasn't use enough in that role in UM's offense .. Those two on the field at the same time with one of Clay or Egnew and their physical abilities as seam threats drawing safeties (something Fasano could not do to save his life as defenses never focused on him as he's slower than a turtle), will open up the offense

I can't wait til that piece of crap meatball Fasano is gone from the team after the season . You're finally going to see some real TE's in Miami that can threaten and manipulate defenses, benefiting the entire offense no matter what numbers the individual TE may have

Couldnt agree with you more on this whole quote. Fasano is dunzzo, and maybe a cap casualty sooner than we think with Wake's new contract. Quite frankly......we dont need him. Yeatmen and Mastrud (or whatever their names are) can block just fine. Miller/Bush in the backfield, with Bess and Miller/Bush in the slots.......2 seam threat TE's with Clay and Egnew and Cunningham/Moore/Fuller/Hartline etc as wideouts and this offense looks pretty dangerous. Only question marks are RG (which I really want Murtha to step up to) and when will Tannehill actually start.

When all is said and done, we have a bright future. Or I may just be drinking the cool-aid.......

THIS is Miller's role. I don't care how he gets the ball either rushing , recieving , or kick returns. It's all good.

This pic is just nasty all the way around. I hope he can get his shoulders back on point. This kid makes me want to watch the Fins play some ball....just super athletic.

Fasano is under-appreciated and as much a "meatball" as Jim Carrey and Celine Dion are "hockey pucks." eh? He's unsung because he isn't flashy and often too otherwise engaged blocking, which he does effectively; now with Egnew as a threat, Fasano helps solidify our OL even more while still being a dependable receiving option.

A Fasano is a top 5 all around TE. He scored the same amount of TDs in the last two years as B Marshall did on a 1/3rd of the catches.

He does the dirty work and never complains or bitches because he does not get the ball enough. He has only dropped two passes in the last two years.

He blocks well, he gets open, he makes tough catches and scores TDs. And yet a lot of "football fans" complain about him.

Jimmy Graham
Rob Gronkowski
Brandon Pettigrew
Tony Gonzalez
Jason Witten
Vernon Davis
Jermichael Finley
Brent Celek
Jermaine Gresham
& Maybe even Aaron Hernandez

Are all more talented than Fasano. I like Fasano, I think he's a fine tight-end, but lets not get carried away here.

All Around. Jimmy Graham can't block for ****. Does that matter in today's NFL? Not really.

Top overall (receiving plus blocking) TEs are very simple:

-Gronk (he's far and away the best. He might be the best at both things. Its unfair how good he is)
-Witten
-Vernon Davis
-Grishem
-Fasano

The others listed above can't block for ANYTHING. Like, they are absolute wastes at it.

Yeah, i know Fasano isnt the topic of the thread, but... To bash him is ridiculous. Are you watching the games? Highly underrated by the average fan because he's not flashy, i guess. Did anyone notice how much he had to babysit Columbo last year?

Jimmy Graham caught 99 balls last year and he doen't make your top 5?

Yea, some of these guys cannot block and blocking does count depending on the formations and plays you run. Every team has a blocking TE to go with those that do not.

You just do not throw away a productive player at any position. As was showed a couple of years ago, combine Fasano with a non blocking, pass catching TE and they can catch 80 passes between them.

The NUMBER ONE reason why A Fasano only caught 32 passes is that he only had 33 thrown his way. You have to remember that he has been kept in to cover for RT Colombo way too much.

His YPC was 14.1 yards which was the 4th best in the NFL for TEs,
