4-3 or 3-4 you gotta go with Soliai. A 350 lb man that can run like that is rare, so you have to keep him.

Or, you could add a Mario Williams button. We, at this point have as much claim to Williams as we have to the other two.... except for the possibility of a franchise tag that seems unlikely.

Or we could let both go and go after Calais Campbell in Free Agency.

That dude is a stud and would wreck havoc in Nickel packages.

Wait, WHAT?

You want to give up on 2 solid starters for a Nickel player?

I honestly haven't paid much attention, but I was thinking that Campbell was considered a huge bust at this juncture. He had lots of promise coming out of college, but has mostly been silent since.

Calais has been on a tear. Plays at LDE in Arizona's 3-4 and is a Beast (6'8", 300 lbs)!

Had 8 sacks this past year on a team that doesn't have a whole lot of pass rush.

He's better than Langford and could play DT in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4.

Dude is only 25 too.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

MIAMI paid SOLIAI $12 Million last season. IF MIAMI gave him WILFORK's money THIS season, that'd be a 5 year/$40 Million Contract, w/$18 Million as a signing bonus, and $25 Million "guaranteed". Breaking that down, for "cap" purposes, $3.6 Million would be the yearly part of that $18 Million "signing bonus". And assuming that MIAMI didn't "backload" or "frontload" ANYTHING, the "salary" part of SOLIAI's $40 Million would be $22 Million, and dividing that by 5, that gives you a yearly "salary" number of $4.4 Million. So, SOLIAI's "cap" # for this season is $8 Million. The 25 Million "guarantee" adds nothing to the "cap" #: it's just "insurance" for SOLIAI. Now, if MIAMI added, as a "sweetener", say $1 Million/Year chargeable against the "cap", SOLIAI's new "cap" # would be $9 Million, and if the "Cap" remained the same/got bigger, then MIAMI would actually SAVE about 3 Million by giving SOLIAI a 5 Year deal which was actually better than WILFORK's. And if SOLIAI insisted on that $10 Million number, and the Contract was structured as above, MIAMI would STILL save about $2 Million, probably enough for MIAMI to also resign LANGFORD regardless of whether the cap went up or remained the same.

MIAMI could cut an aging BELL, whose "cap" # is over $6 Million, and COLUMBO, who I beileve gets $1.1 Million, MIAMI could have roughly $7 Million MORE in "caproom", w/o doing much of anything else.

Is that about right? If so, then this is a non-issue and a no-brainer...which means that MIAMI'll screw it up!!!

ronPaul Soliai... ;) Langfords come a dime a dozen and we have his replacement ready. ronPaul Soliais are hard to find. It's a no brainer. ronPaul Soliai.... :)

A Lot of Mumbo Jumbo, and you lost me at Columbo!!! Marc Columbo is a Free Agent meaning we wouldn't have to cut him to save cap space as he is already gone. Sorry but your post lost my vote of confidence with that comment alone!

I would say Soliai except for the fact that he doesn't stay on the field enough. I don't have the statistics but I would dare to say that he did not play in 50% of our snaps this year. He always is out on passing downs and when teams are frequently using the no-huddle because he gets too tired. That is my biggest qualm with Soliai. Langford would be on the field for more plays but is he more productive. This really is a good question.

I think using the money you would pay them could be better spent on a Mario Williams or Calais Campbell as mentioned to play DE in the 4-3. Give me either of them opposite Wake in the 4-3 with a rotation of Starks, Odrick and McDaniel at the DT's and I think you have one heck of a line!

Honestly if we had to resign one it would be Soliai. I'd rather spend that money ona 4-3 DE though, or, more importantly, a QB.

biggest problem with giving Solai Wilfotk type money for all the love on this board he is not even close to Wilfork. Solai is a good player but not elite in my opinion.
