Lazor using Egnew as a WR more

You may be right. I'm anxious to see what Lynch can do. Living in GA I saw several of his games and he did catch some big passes for UG. If they were sold on Egnew and Sims why draft another TE ?

Not only will Egnew make the team, he will surpass his career reception numbers after the first two games. If a team uses Egnew like the Saints use Jimmy Graham, who is also 265 pounds and can't block, they will get more out of him then trying to turn him into an inline tight end. I think if you draft a receiving tight end you need to give him more than 11 targets in two seasons.

I think I'm leaning toward seeing a roster with four tight ends, six receivers and only three running backs. Miami can always keep one or two backs on the practice squad and in recent years there always seems to be one or two vet running backs on the street during the season that Miami could sign at a late notice who would at the very least could come close to producing what a fourth back on the regular roster would likely provide. Last year for example Cleveland signed Willis McGahee during the season and I'm sure he was better than Mike Gillisee

Egnew will not make the roster. Think it will be Sims, lynch, clay and gator.

I thought Egnew blocked ok last year but he became stiff and lost any wiggle to the point that in the passing game the only thing he showed was the 4 yard dump off. Now, maybe that was a function of Sherman and Philbin's lack of creativity. We'll see what these guys have in training camp in the new system. These guys are running out of chances (and excuses).

Like Hoops said if he didn't lose any weight I think he'll really struggle getting separation. I would hope Lazor is putting him in this position early in camp to see if he can handle the responsibility. If not I could see the Fins looking at other options, possibly Finley or Keller if he's healthy. Lazor appears to me as a coordinator who will want an upgrade if hes not happy with the players he has. Hickey also looks to be a GM who would listen to his coaching staff and try to get an upgrade as well. Unlike Ireland who basically seemed to make some moves only when he saw fit.

I am really going to hate it when the Dolphins finally cut Egnew. After all, how are we going to be reminded of how bad Jeff Ireland was as a GM in the second and third rounds of the draft if we don't have his worse mistakes around to ridicule. If Egnew isn't on the team how are we going to be able to remind all of the Ireland fan-boys who spent six years on this site worshiping every draft pick Ireland ever made that their judgement of the man was totally, completely and utterly wrong.

I say keep Egnew on the roster and let him continue to waste space on the bench.

I'd be good with either of those options over Egnew plus i know you've already put out feelers to Finley :brewskis:

That's what I'm hoping.

Clay & Gator can catch the deep ball in stride.

Sims & Lynch can be used in goal line or short yardage situations.
