Anyone want to speculate on what the difference may be? Or maybe he will just run what Philbin puts in place?

Shermans sucked.Lazor has a better shot esp if our new GM brings in some O line help

As long as he can call plays to convert 3rd and short, and not call predictable 2nd and 10 running plays we are in for a treat now that Sherman is gone.

Or how much did tannehill have to do with lazors choice to come here?

I think Lazor is a decent hire. This guy has been a QB coach since 2006 and he did wonders for Nick Foles. I hoped he picked up a lot of knowledge from Chip Kelly cause I loved how the Eagles moved Desean Jackson around in the formations, inside, outside...they even lined him up in the backfield next to Foles on shotgun snaps and threw it to him out of the backfield. Very creative ways to get the ball in their playmakers hands.

He was also the OC at the University of Virginia (2010-2012) so he has some experience calling plays although those Virginia teams were not great offensively. Most of that, if I remember correctly, was due to a bad QB situation though. Hoops can probably expand on Lazor from his time at Virginia though.

We don't know. At UVa he took over a team that was dead last in the ACC in offense and got them up into the top 3-4 in the conference. He did that by running a three headed quarterback attack. Hoops can tell you more -- he's not a fan, though.

He's worked under a bunch of different coaches, WCO Air Coryell, etc. My guess is that he will adapt to the personnel, rather than trying the square peg round hole thing.

NFL.com report says he has experience in several systems working under various well respected former coaches.

Well Foles had 27 TDs and only 2 ints after a bad first year. So he should definitely help Tannehill. McCoy lead the league in rushing so the hope is we can generate a running game. DJax had his best season as a Pro and Riley Cooper had a phenomenal year as well. I'm pretty sure he's an upgrade on Sherman but who wouldn't be??? Hopefully he will run a fast-paced Offense that he has been learning under Kelly. I think the difference in the Offenses are that Philly would use a lot of shifts and motions to create a favorable matchup and exploit it. A lot do designed screens to keep the Defenses guessing and moving the pocket to keep Foles from taking Sacks. They also had countless huge plays off play-action passing that was not part of our Offense at all!!! I think the creativity will be welcomed here because we all knew the Dolphins would throw on 1st down and then run on 2nd and 10. Sherman had no creativity at all and teams caught on to the "go" and "go go" pretty quickly

I hope he keeps us out of 2nd and 10s. He can do that by updating our archaic and predictable running game. We need a fast powerful back that can break tackles, has great vision and falls forward for more yardage when hit. Get a guy like that and fix the oline and this is a different team, and they NEED to be a different from what we saw last year on O, especially those last 2 epic failure games.

Having watched a few of Nick Foles games I believe the Eagles run a pretty friendly QB system. How much Lazor incorporates that into his own personal offense I have no idea. He seemed to help Foles quite a bit considering I thought Foles wasnt any good in college to begin with. I never imagined him doing what he did last year. Incredible.

I think we all picture the Chip Kelly offense in relation to Lazor coming here and I don't know how accurate that is. I am however, very excited about what he brings to the table. If he can not help our young quarterback take the next step, I believe he will be able to find someone to bring in and play his style of quarterback effectively.

That isnt any indication of my belief of Tannehill. After being somewhat wishy washy in the past, I have reviewed games and I believe Tannehill is a very good young quarterback with lots of room to grow. In the grand scheme of everything he is probably around top 15 right now, he is still young, and can still get much much better. Im putting all my chips in with him personally if I am the new GM. I believe in 2 years, he is a the bees knees.

I would think it means that Lazor thinks the offense can succeed with Tannehill. Every young offensive coordinator wants to be a head coach eventually, which obviously requires a good QB. The Dolphins aren't going to draft a QB that can play right out of the gate, and won't be trading for anyone who would be expected to compete with Tannehill.

two things IMO

1. up tempo like we were promised
2. prepared for what a defense shows/gives you (If Lamar is open in flat, use him. If TE is open on quickie, use him).

It will be interesting to see him call plays however.

Philbin put an offense in place?

The only problem with this on 3rd and 20 a play would be called to send a WR 10 yards short, and Tannehill would throw it to him

I watch the Eagles pretty regularly since that's where my dad is from (Go Phillies, Sixers and Flyers!!!!). The Eagles actually throw screen passes, unlike the Dolphins, who NEVER throw screen passes. They also utilize their running backs to catch passes. What an amazing concept!!!!!

I am not saying the Phins are going to turn into the D-Jax and Slim Shady show, but runny dog poop is better than Sherman. It's just a shame Mr. Retard (Jeff Ireland) traded away a RB (Reggie Bush) who was good at rushing it and catching it. I would love to draft a RB like Bishop Sankey (Washington), Ka'Deem Carey (Arizona) or Lache Seastrunk (Baylor) from the 2nd round onward.
