War Room analysis
Against the inside run: Is aggressive; showing power and explosiveness in tight spaces. Is tough. Attacks the line of scrimmage. Uses hands well to shed blockers. Must strengthen lower body and bulk up to be a force against NFL linemen. Grade: 8.2.
Against the outside run: Is a sideline-to-sideline playmaker with great speed and quickness. Has great lateral pursuit, takes good angles to the ball and shows an explosive burst. Seals the backside in pursuit and fills cutback lanes. Grade: 8.5.
Blitz/coverage:: Is active. Shows great quickness and instincts on blitzes and a closing pass-rush burst. Has all the physical tools in coverage -- can turn and run with running backs and tight ends, and drops quickly into his zone. Must develop better man-to-man skills downfield. Grade: 8.2.
Run/pass recognition: Shows great awareness, and reads plays quickly and correctly. Rarely takes false steps or gets caught out of position. Grade: 8.3.
Pursuit/tackling: Uses great body control and vision to break down and make tackles in pursuit, shutting down cutback lanes. Is a steady yet explosive tackler in open field. Grade: 8.3.
Bottom line: Greenway has all the tools -- great speed, attitude, intelligence and work ethic -- to be an outstanding weakside linebacker. There are some concerns about a serious knee injury in '02 and he still needs to get stronger, but Greenway should be able to contribute as a rookie, possibly even start. Expect him to be selected in the middle of the first round.
Dan Pompei analysis
Athletic, every-down linebacker who can run, cover and rush the passer. Is tough, aggressive and smart. Has explosiveness and likes to hit.
NEWS
Greenway was generally pleased with his Combine performance but was disappointed in his 40-yard dash time. And he says his vertical leap was a little below his usual performance. Greenway was interviewed by 19 teams, including by Steelers coach Bill Cowher. -- Associated Press
