League Sources: Daboll Favorite For Dolphins Job

I wouldn’t be against us hiring Daboll, but we do need to be prepared that he is not a miracle worker. He’s been an OC with offended ranking near the bottom of the league with the Browns and Chiefs, had a middle of the pack offense with us, and a prolific offense with the Bills. The Bills is his first stop with a star quarterback. It will be interesting to see how his offense will function with Tua under center and where it would rank. He’d certainly need to bring a stronger running game to Miami than he’s overseen in Buffalo.

Honestly I don’t know who I’d rank as my preferred head coach and I think some teams seem to feel the same way with how their coaching searches are going.

On sports radio here in NY they were claiming Daboll is a lock for the Giants job. They were claiming the knock on Flores, was he couldn't assemble a quality offensive coaching staff, and couldn't get along with his GM.
What? I never knew that...LOL

New Giants GM said no to Watson, so I don't think they will hire Flores.

How about Kentucky?

My wife is from Kentucky and her parents were double 1st cousins.
For the record, double first cousins occur when a brother in family "A" marries a sister in family "B" AND her brother from family "B" marries a sister from family "A".
I know a family from way back where the mom was a widow, and she dated and then married a widower. And, her two daughters married the widower's two sons! I guess that's what they mean when they say, "keep it in the family". :chuckle:

I disagree with your assessment of the Bills situation. What made Josh Allen great…..And still does….Is the OL that gives him a clean pocket on 80% or more of his drop backs and the weapons he has. He was nothing until they traded for Diggs. Look at the pass blocking on that OL. For **** sake he had 9.63 seconds to throw on one of his touchdowns against the Pats 2 weeks ago. Tua didn’t have 9.63 seconds in any quarter this year. So…To be frank….I don’t think Daboll’s “Brilliant” play calling has anything to do with Josh Allen becoming the QB he has. I attribute that to a VERY good OL. Excellent weapons on the inside and outside. A better than average running game and a ****ing defense that gets you multiple more possessions per game than he would normally have. Add that to his scrambling ability and his strong arm and you could call any play in the book and be successful. Daboll or no Daboll.

Like I said though…..You may be right and I maybe wrong. Daboll might come here and be the best thing since Shula.
So you’re saying the reason Allen is good is because everything around him is also good, but doesn’t the OC have something to do with that? You don’t recall Allen missing wide open receivers time and again and making boneheaded decisions early in his career? Look, Allen has only started being considered an elite QB last season, he vastly improved, you can ask any Bills fans and they will agree.

I’m just trying to understand the reasoning behind why, for some of you, the Bills offense is good DESPITE Brian Daboll, but the 49ers’ is BECAUSE of Mike McDaniel, it makes no sense. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

From what I've read, his running game uses some fancy blocking schemes. Who in Miami's Front Office is capable of finding o-linemen that can handle complicated blocking schemes? After three years of trades, drafting, and Free Agency, the best they could come up with was the worst o-line in the entire league! If they hire McDaniel, he'd better be able to find his own o-linemen.
That comes from not having an offensive identity and not knowing what you’re looking for in the type of lineman you would want. McDaniel knows and understands the type of player on the line that he would need to run his scheme.

What I like about Daboll is the rumors of his staff brings experience and he probably knows Josh Allen better than anyone. Maybe that can help us stop him. Don’t know but none of the candidates really wow me.

People are talking like Josh Allen was an amazing QB since he came into the league and that is not the case. It was not until year 3 that he looked like a good QB.

I feel like we should keep our defensive coaches also as I believe they know the system that works and wouldn't be surprised if they were calling the last half of last season
I thought I heard a report with Darlington on ESPN shortly after the Flores firing that Flores took over the play calling the second half of the season. Darlington seemed to indicate we got better when Flores increased his role, not the other way around. This would seem to match up with what appeared to be going on during game time and would make sense based off of the previous years of Flores defensive performance. I think the defense was Flores, and the rest of the defensive staff was clueless.

Then ,that's on Flores and his inability to hire a competent staff....Flores is a asshole micro-manager....He isn't long for this league....

Agreed, and no doubt Daboll deserves some credit for that, but it's not like there are any real similarities between Allen and Tua. They are very different QBs with very different skill sets. I'm not sure how well Daboll's Allen experience translates to a QB like Tua. Also, I think Daboll probably has less to do with Allen's success than the Bills QB coach. I'm not saying he can't be a solid head coach, just saying that I don't think the hype may be as warranted as some believe.

Yes, it is on Flores, but you.completely missed my point. Many on FH would be fine with keeping the entire defensive staff from Flores, but if that staff couldn't win without Flores having to take over duties for them, why would we want to keep them?

I highly doubt McDaniel would be able to assemble a good staff of assistants on both sides of the ball. I also question his ability to lead a locker room of NFL players. as a head coach.

Can I ask - what, aside from his height and looks, makes you believe this?
