Strange question for a Dolphins forum. Since Ross bought the team, he has heard how Absolutely Fabulous the Heat are in ownership, FO, coaching, being a family, and winning. At the same time. he has heard how bad his Dolphins are in ownership, FO, coaching, player problems, and losing.

Have to wonder if Ross is a Cavs fan at this time?

I understand OP's take on the subject.

For those non-NBA fans. If Lebron James leaves Miami for another team the Miami Heat will basically cease to exist for the next 4-5 years. All the attention would then sway over to the Miami Dolphins and the up n coming talent and franchise QB that is Ryan Tannehill.

This would be music to Ross ears as his franchise would now become the focal point of Miami sports.

Would be interesting to hear what Ross would have to say on the matter, obviously I doubt he would 'praise' Lebron leaving althought business wise it would be great for him and the Miami Dolphins.

Why do you think that is exactly. Point in fact, is not Lebron's fault even in the most idotic realm of reality or otherwise, that the Dolphins are seen as a poorly run franchise.

Sorry bro but this is a huge huuuuuuuuuge reach.

I don't see how the Heat diminishing in success will have any influence on attention brought to the Dolphins...that would imply there is some sort of set "pie" of attention to sports that Miami has, and the Heat are taking most of the pie as it is. The lack of attention to the Dolphins is directly attributed to winning or lack there of. If Lebron leaves Miami it won't suddenly make the Dolphins the most important team in Miami, it will just contribute to the lack of sports success in Miami. If the Dolphins were having great success the last 2 or 3 years, they would be hand in hand with the Heat ruling Miami sports.

Eh....

I agree to the bashing, but I'm sure Ross would love the Dolphins to become the #1 team in Miami again. His franchise has played 2nd fiddle to the Heat since 'The King' arrived in South Beach. I'm sure his pockets took a hit one way or another.

All LeBron leaving would do is give local fans one less excuse to use for not showing up at Dolphins games. "I spent all of my entertainment money going to Heat games" will not be a bull**** phrase you hear very often.

Lebron also creates a buffer for the dolphins, their struggles aren't as big b/c LeBron takes attention away. if LeBron leaves no one will care about the Heat and all the attention goes back to Miami. if they win that's great, if they continue losing it won't be pretty.

I just do not see the connection. The only connection I see is that if Lebron leaves, it will place more attention on Miami. With that being said I dont think Ross even thinks about Lebron in such a way that he affects the team.

He affects his business. Lebron takes away money from Ross at the end of the day.

Even if it's people saying "Should I buy Dolphins or Heat season tickets?"

Stephen Ross is a classy guy. I doubt that he is filled with hate towards LeBron James and the Heat. There is scope for both the Dolphins and the Heat to both succeed. It's not mutually exclusive.

You got it. You have no idea how many times I have heard from Phans saying instead of an Arrison, we get a Ross, instead of a Riley we get Tuna and Ireland, instead of young VG coach in Spolstra, we fet Sparano and Philbin, etc, instead of a family we have problem children, instead of a great personnel plan, we have none, and #1, instead of winning, we get losing.

This is what Ross has been hearing since he came in, and if I were him, I would have to love if it went away.

This is absolutely true, and goes much further in advertising on local TV, etc, and even team merchandise sales.

If Ross wants the Phins to become the #1 team in Miami all he has to do is put a winner on the field. The NFL is king, not LeBron. He may be the king of the NBA, but the NFL is king in America.

LeBron leaving Miami would make the Phins the #1 team in the area again, but by default. That probably isnt the way Ross wants to become #1 in Miami. Being #1 in town does not matter if people do not show up. Does it matter who is the #1 producer of white wall tires in Miami?

The fact is that if the Dolphins had a star QB and were winning games and perhaps even championships, the Phins would be the top act in town LeBron or no LeBron. There is plenty of money to go around in South Florida. Both teams wouldve filled stadiums and sold merchandise galore.

Win a lot of games. When the Phins do that the fair weather and bandwagon fans will be back to fill up the stadium and buy all of the merchandise with the new logo on it. Win a championship and that stuff will sell all over the country. If LeBron leaves how many so called "Heat fans" will you hear about in the rest of the country? I know there are a ton of them right now. Soon they might be "Cavs fans". If you question them, they were always Cavs fans, even after LeBron left. If the Cavs do not win the title right away though, they might be Houston or Oklahoma City fans. Whatever works out for them. If they already invested a few hundred dollars in clothing for one of those teams they may hang around for a year or two before jumping ship. But, outside of the true Heat fans in Miami who were going to games before LeBron ever showed up, there will not be many left.
