LeGone/Positive or negative for Dolphins and Miami sports landscape

I've read on realgm that allegedly LBJ wouldn't return a bunch of Riles calls after the finals and finally told him to speak to his agent. So coupled with other allegations like his mom Gloria not getting comped seats close enough to the bench, if true the die was cast. Who knows, maybe cougar Gloria already had her eyes on Kyrie as her next horizontal mambo partner. However we will be well-positioned to welcome him back in 2 years if the equivalent of his battering spouse returns to form (as a Leopard doesn't change its spots) or if Gloria pulls another Delonte West (so to speak) and/or KD or Marc Gasol. After working with Mickey and Pat, sometimes you don't appreciate what you've had until you have to work with a douchebag owner, a rookie GM and the equivalent of a minor league coach.

This is all hearsay, but from what I've been told, his wife and his mom actually liked living down here. It was basically his posse that wanted him to go back since they basically ran the organization, and the town. Cleveland catered to their every need and let them get away with anything.

Still won't waste my money on a mediocre franchise.

Sorry out of town haters Spend your money.

It sucks cause now all of our teams will be mediocre...Lovely...

By the way, if you ever feel like you need to take a break from the forum, I have a script ready to go that can fill your shoes for a bit. Just shoot me a PM and I can set it up.

point 7 must be a joke right ? unprepared for life ? we are talking about grown ups and you make it sound like they are babies, its their path they chose and we all have to put some money aside for later , just because some nfl players are to stupid, this has absolutely nothing to do with goodell, it has to do with being an idiot

You're right, but we're not really talking about grownups. We're talking about professional football players. Guys who have not had to deal with accountability anywhere except on the field since before they were in high school.

Think about it, if you have the kind of talent needed to play in the NFL, you almost surely went through high school getting help with your grades so that you could stay on the team. You got a free ride to college and once there, you got placed into special class sections that met once every other week for an hour and didn't require any homework. As long as you were good enough to stay on the team, didn't give your coach much lip, and didn't get yourself arrested, you could do whatever the hell you wanted to.

In the NFL, you were surrounded by agents and yes men who handled your finances and told you that you could do whatever you wanted. They told you everything was great and that the money would never run out. Again, all you had to do was be good at football, show your coach some respect, and avoid getting arrested.

The way you learn (or don't learn) to behave when you're part of that world just isn't going to do you any favors when you aren't in an elite 0.0001% subset of athletic freaks anymore.

The Heat kept Bosh, and will likely keep Wade. Still way more relevant than the Fins.

This team is going to be pretty good...

Deng signed. Rio coming back.

Got Napier, Ennis and Hamilton going to get good minutes.

People will actually be excited and engaged to see how we come out of this. And I think it will be pretty good.

I'm more excited for the Heat season to see what we do than the Dolphins season...

Strange question for a Dolphins forum. Since Ross bought the team, he has heard how Absolutely Fabulous the Heat are in ownership, FO, coaching, being a family, and winning. At the same time. he has heard how bad his Dolphins are in ownership, FO, coaching, player problems, and losing.

Have to wonder if Ross is a Cavs fan at this time?

Lebron leaving does nothing to change the fact that the Dolphins ARE BAD in ownership, FO, coaching, player problems, and losing. Many of the homers on this board act as if the Dolphins being the number one sports franchise in this market is an unchangable eternal truth. Well it is not. For the past fifteen years the Dolphins have been nothing but irrelevant mediocre crap. They have been unable to win in a league that is designed to promote parity to the extreme and from an entertainment point of view they have been mind-numbingly boring in the manner that they have achieved this notable lack of success. The Dolphins stopped being relevant in this community years ago. Season ticket sales testify to this truth.

Pat Riley is rebuilding the Heat. He has resigned Bosh and is close to resigning Wade. He has added Luol Deng to play with the big two and the fact that Lebron James is not longer here to hog the ball means that Chris Bosh will get to go back to playing his normal All-Star level game instead of the bastardized version that was required to play with both James and Wade. I suspect that if you look at what the Dolphins accomplish next year and compare it to what the Heat accomplish you will find that the Heat are significantly ahead of the Dolphins on all fronts.

So, Lebron leaving means nothing to the Dolphins. The Dolphins need to get their own act together and they need to do it yesterday if they want to be relevant in this town any time in the immediate future.

The Heat are the better-run franchise right now. Not flawless, but compared to the Fins, they've been elite for the past 4 years and have captured S.Florida fans hearts. They've set out against the rest of the nations "Heat-Haters" and triumphed time and again -- that's just something you can hang your hat on as a Heat fan, knowing your team overcomes adversity like that. The Dolphins have mostly shown internal fragility, what with Bullygate, Pouncey's hijinks, poor draft selections, Philbin's staff debacle with Sherman, Ross and Ireland being morons, etc. It's a multitude of stuff that as a Dolphins fan, I'm frankly utterly embarrassed, and my football buddies have such an easy time ragging on me for being a Dolphins fan. I'd imagine that could be the case for a lot of people in S.Florida (where a good chunk of the population isn't necessarily From Florida -- if you had to pick a team to really root for, would you pick the one that humiliates itself time and again?

The Heat have been elite cause of the guy that just left..they won't be elite this season.

Signing Deng to a 10 million contract is

I'm not much of a Heat fan, though I do follow them casually. It is beyond obvious that the Heat are a much better run franchise from to to bottom than the Dolphins. Personally, I think it all starts with ownership. Mickey is 20 times the owner that Ross is. It certainly helps having Riley around in that czar position.

So the Heat will continue to be relevant, while the Dolphins will continue to be irrelevant until that leadership gap is bridged.

They've been elite b/c of James. He's gone now so I don't see them being elite any longer.
